Car Battery

Featured Replies

I currently drive a lease hired Nissan Note and will be replacing it with a Skoda Karoq.  I need to get the Note ready for return.  The Stop/Start system stopped working after the cars warranty had expired.  I read that the most likely cuase is that the battery needs replaced.  A new battery is £161!!!  Would a normal battery costin £50-£60 do given I will be returning the car in a few weeks.  I personally don't care about the feature but I don't want the warning light on the dash when they inspect the car.

Surely a problem like that would be covered by your warranty?

Happened after the 3 year warranty had finished.

Charge the battery before the car is being collected.

If the car can start and can stop then just get the hand back inspection and hand the car back.

There are the things that Stop / Start from functioning like ambient temps, temp difference required in the car and outside temp difference, low battery.

So unless the person collecting the car is going for a long drive and trying or expecting the Stop / Start to be operating then that is that.

The car is in the state of Wear & Tear and usage for the age and miles.

You are not replacing wipers, tyres etc before hand back are you?

The tyres are fine, the back wiper needs replaced and the back bumper needs a respray (don't ask).

As Root says, charge the battery.............. Smart charger required me thinks

See what happens. Is the warning light just a low battery warning???

Batteries for cars with stop start are much more expensive (and heavy duty) than batteries from a few years ago.
