Superb III rattle when moving from stop. DSG

Featured Replies

Hello

Have anyone ever experienced this issue with Skoda where when moving from stop the car makes a rattle noise.

Hear video below.

Car is Superb III 1.8 Petrol 132kw, DSG.

Kinda feels like the noise is coming when DSG is changing from 1st to 2nd. Though I tested the option of manually changing the gear and never got the same sound.

Only happens when i drive off from stop and haven't heard at any other moment when the gear has changed.

Has anyone got any clue on what it might be?

I’ve never heard anything like that in the car although it did sound very much like my stomach after a Vindaloo last night ...

Hard to hear on my phone, but is it like a heat shield metallic sound? Could be a DMF issue.

Spoke with one automatic gearbox mechanic and he listened to the recording and drove around a bit. Also said that most likely is DMF that causes the sound. Also noted that it can be because DSG changes the gear from first to second massively fast.  Thats why i couldn't recreate it when using the manual option as it doesn't let me change the gear when RPM is so low.

Any ideas on how i can change the speed of how fast the gear changes from first to second when using full automatic? Probs not an option to hack it somehow.

Does it do the same thing when you run the box in sport or is it just doing it in drive?

I have the same sound on my 1.4 TSI150PS Superb (2016) manual gearbox.

Just tested it, did notice in drive, didnt notice in sport.

Ok. In sport the parameters are adjusted to allow gear changes to be quicker or more aggressive as such. You could try having someone like revo or similar remap the dsg so drive mode is adjusted.

one of the first things i thought was to change the gear change speed on Drive and Eco. That it would have to have a little more RPM before going from 1st to 2nd. Since when i used manual option it didnt make a noise when changing the gear but it also didnt let me change the gear before i had proper RPM compared to automatic option where it does the change basically instantly after moving from stop.

Also noticed that the rattle doenst happen always. Usually when car is cold i cant hear it. Drove around a little and then i hear the sound but not from a cold drive.

Did you solve this rattle?

I've got something very similar (Superb III 1.4 Petrol DSG). I've booked it in for diagnostics with Bristol Transmissions after advice from local garage.

OP last visited 2 years ago, and may not even have this car.
