Hi all,

 

My TPMS light comes on at startup and won't turn off. It blinks for about a minute and then stays on.  Pressing and holding the reset button does nothing, the light blinks once but then just stays on and there is no bong.

 

I've checked the pressures and they're all ok. I've run my obd scanner on it (generic, not vcds) and it is showing some errors with the abs module but I have no abs light.

 

Has anyone had a similar issue at all?

ABS module failures are VERY expensive to resolve, I would find someone to scan your car with VCDS asap so you can ascertain whether someone has tried to cover up an expensive fault.

 

On our 2007 Scout the TPMS button will 'bong' after the reset has been successfully performed.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know what it is that makes it so expensive? Is the ABS pump and ABS module a separate thing?

I've never had to deal with this issue so I'm not the person to give an opinion.

Update on this. Return to seller is not an option as this was a sold as seen type of deal. I've linked with forum member Aubrey who was super helpful and generously donated his time. I have the outside temperature sensor malfunctioning and there is an issue with the speed signal. The cluster isn't displaying the current mph when I drive. This leads me to think that there's an issue with the Speedo and the car is able to compensate using the info from the ABS sensors to make the needle work.

 

Does anybody happen to know where the Speedo sensor might be on the gearbox. 2015 automatic 1.2 TSI. I'm hoping it's just a loose connection rather than a wiring issue/problem with the cluster. 

You have a speed sensor on each wheel that connects to the ABS module. The ABS module then provides the speed for the rest of the cars modules.

 

If possible, it might be worth adding an autoscan from VCDS or similar to give some clues

TPMS reset on my Yeti has to be done with ignition on, but engine off.

Is there another speed sensor other than the abs ones? My attempts to scan (car scanner and carista) have both flagged error 00625 which appears to be a g22 speed sensor.

As strange as it sounds, if you fix the temperature sensor, that might sort the TPMS errors for you.

Brilliant info!  Who would have guessed that?

The link was superb, the "Sold as seen" motor might be a bargain if they sold it cheap because of all these faults!!

Did some digging this morning and found two random wires poking out. Do these look like they might link up for the temp sensor? Finding it quite hard to get access back there.

 

 

At a guess, yes

 

Someone may have removed the bumper and ripped the old sensor off by the look of that.

 

As a test, I'd connect them together temporarily and see if you end up with a different fault code.

Is that fault code list after everything has been cleared down?

Also, does anybody know what this is linked to? 

 

 

The faults here were before clearing. The intermittent switch faults and immobiliser fault disappeared.

Gearbox sensor of some sort. I am not that familiar with the auto gearbox to know without looking.

UPDATE: FIXED. Cheap outside temperature sensor from the scrap yard. Wired in, temperature immediately popped up. Cleared codes down using cheap OBD tool and nothing came back.
