vRS rear suspension issue

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, drivers side rear suspension/ride height is approx 15mm lower than nearside any idea what I need to do to sort it. Shock looks fine from what I can see no leaks.

Thanks Paul

The shocks shouldn't effect the ride height.

It's more likely to be the springs. You might have snapped one end off the spring on the lower side 🙂

Thanks for your reply and oh yes of course! If I take the wheel off I presume I will be able to check this?

Do you know if there maybe a workshop manual I could download on the site?

Jack the car up and and get on axle stands, compare the coils. If there both the same visually with the same amount of coil, ones probably fatigued and done. Change them in pairs, never single, you’ll just case the same issue but reverse if you do. You can download Haynes manuals now.

Thanks for that

When i bought my octavia 1 side was sitting lower than the other. I bought a pair of replacement springs.

There were no visual breaks to the spring and when side by side off the car they measured and sat at the same length. Also had the same coloured identification bands.

Sometimes theae things happen without any logical reason,,,,,,,,,,

Oh and spring looks fine

If the spring is fine why are you replacing both?

I'd check for a worn bush.

Remove both springs and compare lengths, inspect closely for cracks.

If they are identical refit swapping sides and reassess.
