DSG noise

Featured Replies

@Skatyif you intend having the car from over 3 years old until maybe 10 years then once the manufacturer's warranty is out you can purchase a Skoda VW warranty and just be sure that covers the DSG if it worries you.  Leave it well alone, keep other people's hands away from it.   For any thinking of 'All in service and warranty plans' there is a new thread in the General Automotive chat.

And what about DQ200 with a 1.6 diesel? Is it a worry free combination?

Sadly no.  But then the age matters.  2009-2012 had some as part of service campaign 34F7,. Then 2013-2015 was 34H5 and as software update for some.  Then 2014/15 are covered in a TPI for some. Slipping clutches.  There are updated clutches.  Then really from Euro 6 on it is only time that will tell with any 1.5TSI and 1.6tdi with DQ200,s.  Fingers crossed and get an extended warranty is 'simply clever':.  VW are resolving it soon by have the ,e-dq200 and with mild hybrids.   Vorsprung Dutch technik.  Just keep turning them out and of only 5% have issues then tough.

Being worried from the very beginning, I  purchased a warranty extension to 4yrs/90k km from the day 1 but I plan to keep a bit more since I really like it.

Maybe it's better cross my fingers for my 2020 kamiq 1.6.

Until now -1.5yrs later and 24k km- it's still running smoothly

I do seem to see a greater number of 1.6 TDIs with DSG problems compared to the petrols.

I don't know whether it's down to the torque or something.

The DQ200 has a torque limit of 250nm which is (by no coincidence no doubt) exactly the torque from the 1.6 TDI.

The older 1.4 TSI produces just 200nm but the newer 150 bhp 1.5 is also rated 250nm.

Older CAVE / CTHE 1.4 TSI with DQ200's so 2009-2014 produced 250Nm and so did 2015 1.8TSI 192ps Polo GTI DSG (But the manual got 320Nm, both did the same acceleration.)

Plenty with remaps are running them with 320Nm or so.

The DQ200 DSG were used in 48 VW Group Applications and all power outputs or applications are not running the same mapping.

They are fitted to engines from 69ps to 192ps.

Thank you guys for the responses. I'm glad to find here and meet you.

I see there is a differences in matter of HP between 1.0 2020 and 2021 Kamiq. One is 115hp and the newer one is 110hp.

-Is that reduce happens with software?

-And do you think, could it be  something to do with the DSG safety?

-Is there any "engine and dsg" differences between 2020 and 2021 Kamiq?

Also I wanted to ask, when i search for dsg using tips on the forums, there is infos about how to stop the engine. They says first need to change the gear to N, and then handbrake and finaly to the P mode. They says this will reduce the load on dsg and put it to the handbrake (which is safer). Is that true in any sense?

Me asking a lot of rookie questions here, thank you again for your time and the knowledge you sharing.

Ps: english is not my native language.
