Which Phone app to use with Superb III?

Featured Replies

Can I ask which phone app I could be using with my Superb III Estate Diesel Estate with DSG on my Samsung S6 phone.

The car is a little under 2 years old (Nov 2018), and has done a low mileage due to lockdown etc - now not even 7k. During lockdown I have only used one tank of fuel, and have been doing occasional longer runs up and down a couple of motorway junctions to try and keep the DPF OK.

I have the 2 year service package which was on offer then, and 5 year extended dealer warranty.

[Updated My immediate concern is that the dash Exhaust Control System warning has come on.] Previously I said DPF warning light, which I think was wrong. Will need to call dealer.

However, I thought I would also take the opportunity to install the appropriate app so that I can look at things a touch more closely.

Cheers

Actually, it depends on what you want.

I know 3 Apps.

- Skoda Connect: Which give you a status on the vehicle at any time whatever the distance. It can also be linked to your agenda to organize your daily trip (or longer ones).

- Skoda Service: to schedule appointment for services (e.g.: MOT) or to get online  quotations.

- MySkoda: Includes apparently the same functions as 'Skoda Service' and contains also indications from user's manual (such as warning lamps explanation), a parkinng assistant (to remind you where you've parked or time left on the park meter...). This App can also be linked to 'Skoda Connect'. Quite complete App indeed.

There probably others Apps...

My understanding was he is after some 3rd party app (no Skoda apps provide fault scans anyway) to get more detailed info about the fault he got and also being able to monitor engine and other data. In that case Torque / Torque Pro is a good option and pretty affordable.

Then if the OP is after some adaptations and tuning OBDEleven would be an even better (but more expensive) choice.

Have you tried putting fresh fuel in it recently, or has the fuel its running on been in the tank for quite a while due to lockdown?

As above, OBDEleven or i know the pro version lets you check sensors like throttle position, so may allow live stream data from EGT sensor etc. I'm not sure so you'd need to check as I normally use something like a snap on or an Autel unit or similar.

Thanks all. Much appreciated.

I have a slightly double agenda - trying to get to grips with this fault, but also thinking about my soon-ending warranty period.

I now have MySkoda setup, but Skoda Connect is sitting there like a useless thing failing to ... er .. connect. Yes it is enabled in the car.

I may also try a third party app, as that would be useful.

WIll keep on experimenting.

Interesting

The manual says contact the local dealer wrt the ECS warning.

The dealer says contact Skoda Roadside Assistance, who are coming out to my home tomorrow AM.

I use "Skoda Connect Lite". It displays all of the information about the car and it records your journeys as well.

You need a "DataPlug", which you leave plugged into the diagnostics port of the car beneath the dashboard at the drivers side (very easy to access) and it connects to the phone app via Bluetooth. A new  Data Plug from Skoda costs about £40 but it is identical to the one used by VW and you can find  second hand VW ones on eBay for  around £10 or less.

Just search eBay for "VW Dataplug". It's marked "TEKA TX9  12V = 80mA    10R-04 1454" and the VAG part number is 5GV051629J.  That's what I use and it works perfectly.
