Keyless Fob issue

Featured Replies

We have a 2015 Fabia 1.2 TSI with keyless start stop.

The vehicle came to us from new with two remote fobs.

We have tended to use the one remote and kept the second as a 'spare'. Batteries (Duracell CR2025) in both remotes were changed as recently as 3 months ago and were working fine until yesterday. The 'Used' remote will NOT now open the doors, despite another change of battery, again a brand new Duracell CR2025. There is also no red light showing on the remote when any of the buttons are pressed.

The 'Spare' remote however still works a treat and when we changed the battery from this remote into the other, this failed to rectify the problem.

If we hold the non-working key fob up to the Stop Start, the car's ignition will start but then a warning comes on the instrument panel indicating that 'Key Not Found'.

Wondering whether the fob itself has failed and needs replacing or we have overlooked a cheaper and quicker solution here.

Any advice or guidance would be both much welcome and appreciated.

Thanks.

I replaced both key bateries with another set of CR2025 and it dind't worked. A friend here in the forum recommended the CR2032 and is now working well. Try it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and advice.

I'll give it a try and update the post.

I'm sure when I changed ours it was a 2032. It was new enough when we bought it to have come from the factory like that.  But it's a few months ago now so I could have dreamt it.

Many thanks to all who have assisted.

Have changed the battery in the main use Fob to a CR2032 and it now works.

Still a little bemused how it ran for so many years on a CR2025 and which was changed to the same type of battery on a number of occasions. The spare fob still operates on the existing CR2025.

One less issue to worry about - Thanks again.

The only difference between the two batteries is the thickness...

CR2032 is 20mm dia and 3.2mm thick,

CR2025 is 20mm dia and 2.5mm thick.

That's what the numbers mean.

Is the keyless ignition reliable on the Fabia? Looking to buy one but the wife is wary after a friend had problems with her car.

KESSY  is fine; my mother in law has it...the keyfob is rather heavy on batteries though; fresh CR2032's every 6 months on all keyfobs and you are good to go.

You can get a CR2032 in there OK then?
I just changed the battery in my keyfob, a CR2032 just felt way too tight and didn't want to force it in there. So fitted a CR2025 instead as per original.

CR2032  batteries are fine,yes a tight fit,but no problems.
