Pretty sure that won't be any use on your MK2 Octavia as it doesn't communicate with CAN-bus based cars :)

Depends what you mean by a reasonable amount ;)

- A new genuine HEX-V2 (3 VIN) will be around £225 so that's probably too much.

- A used genuine HEX-V2 might be around £150-200 with 1 or 2 VIN's left.

Others use Carista or OBDeleven and are closer to the £50 mark but I've never used either.

You might also find it's cheaper to find a local member with VCDS, most are happy to perform scans and coding changes depending what you are trying to do...

Would this one work: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202953470227 ?

Nope - KKL cables and VCDS lite are not suitable for CAN based cars :)

Will they do anything on my car at all? What about my Felicia?

What about this:

Pretty sure VCDS lite can communicate with a Felicia although you might need an adaptor on 1997 and earlier cars. I've no idea what data you'll be able to access or change as I've never tried to connect to a car that old. You'll also need to pay $99 to access the full functionally from VCDS-lite: https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/index.php

Carista have a compatibility checker https://caristaapp.com/vehicles which suggests it'll be OK on the Octavia but not the Felicia.

The Amazon listing says I get 1 free month of the paid app with that Carista device would that mean I get the full functionality for 1 month?

2006 Octy 2  was fine with a Carista ... gave some excellent additional features that I like - antijack door lock at +10mph etc ... I thought somebody had one for sale on the classifieds in here over the weekend ?

I have got the Carista now I think it will do what I want. I think I will have to ask in the Felicia section for OBD2 scanners that will work with that.

Is this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254713072367 a good scanner for all Skoda vehicles with OBD2 ports?

It’s a bit too cheap and not clear exactly what key functionality is available. My advice is check around, then ask seller any questions you may have. If you are looking for specific functionality to be able to reset things, find out what is all that functionality if any, so you know if this is likely to be a one time only box of tricks.

After chatting with other BRISKODA members last night I brought something different from Carista.

Well Im sure that no one here will be surprised the Carista works. It cant customise everything though, I was hoping to change the measurement units as it advertised that it can do that, it just come up with an error.
