As I suspect @Tech1e is also thinking, has the direction control on the fascia become detached from the flap(s) in the control box?

Yeah. Heat doesn't have a direction, only a temperature variance. So I am thinking the problem is not that heat isn't getting to the footwell, more air isn't. This should be pretty obvious by the fact it is probably still blowing out of the demister vents.

Yeah , goes to face and or screen, but not footwell.

If there was a problem with the cable it wouldn't select any different air path, it would be stuck on one mode.

 

They can be put on out of sync, but it would still change, you will just have air blowing out of demist when on footwell and vice versa.
