Standard spec for superb models

Featured Replies

Hello, researching Superb Estates to replace our lease car. Looking at 17 or early 18 ideally but trying to find out what the spec for different models would be. Seems the infotainment system was updated mid 17 but I don't know what this brought or if it was part of a wider update.

I've seen a couple advertised that claim £xxxx optional kit but I'm not sure if it's actually standard.

Any tips or links to explain would be, erm, super.

Thanks.

There are 3 basic info screens available. The most basic had physical buttons on either side of the screen. Early ones without sat nav had 3 buttons either side and if sat nav was an option they had 4 buttons either side. The screen size went from 6.3" (I think) to 8" which had just 2 knobs rather than buttons and the top of the range Columbus with no buttons or knobs just a touchscreen which measures 9.2" was expensive as an option at over £1,000 and was only really standard on L & K models but later fitted to Sportline Plus models such as my 2019 272 hatch. Best to check out the screen shots for confirmation as to what is fitted as my 2016 Superb SE I paid an extra £650 for sat nav which was not standard on that model then. Welcome to Briskoda BTW.

Would help to know what trim level you shopping for as that narrows down what’s optional and what’s standard. For the MY18 the radio screens changed and the climate panel was made glossy but each individual trim level had different changes.

As Sasha alludes to better to concentrate on 67 plate and later as these should have the more up to date screens fitted in the summer re-tooling at the factory during 2017 known as Superb Mk3.5. If your budget allows aim for SEL or L & K models.

Probably SEL and up as I'm looking for something well kitted out.

Yep, looking at mk3.5 in that case.

Thanks.

Budget has some flexibility but there's SEL, SEL executive, sportline, L&K. How to tell what the standard kit is for each 67 plate onwards?

My major gripe with the SE-L is the damn monochrome Maxidot. That is so cheap!! They had the cheek to include that on a high trim level car up to the Mk3.5 facelift that was released end of 2019 and it’s still there on SE Tech and below. The Mk3.5 has the new front end and LED headlights, released Sept 2019.

As a rule for the SE-L Executive things that are standard

Power bootlid

Xenon headlamps with AFS

Half leather/Alcantara seats with power adjustment on the drivers seat and front heating though most have full leather

Adaptive cruise control

9.2 inch Columbus navigation system (8 inch pre MY18)

Front parking sensors

Mk3.5 (2020 model) SE-L

Loses Columbus, drops to Amundsen with 8 inch screen

Gains colour Maxidot

Gains KESSY on rear door handles (this was not available on any Superb with KESSY pre 2020)

Gains full Adaptive LED Crystal lighting with welcome animations

Gains A5 camera for the above function so Lane Assist can be coded in

So thats a good amount of spec but the L&K gains (MY17-19)

KESSY

Dynamic Chassis Control

Virtual Pedal for power bootlid

Colour Maxidot

Paddle shifters on steering wheel (DSG)

Power passenger seat

Lane Assist and Blind Spot Assist (Lane Assist allows traffic sign recognition and high beam assist to be coded if they aren’t already)

Heated front windscreen

Heated rear seats

Tri Zone climate control

Park Assist (self parking for bay and parallel parking)

Ambient Lighting (10 colours post MY17 configurable to 30 post MY18 with coding)

CANTON Premium sound system

MY20 is slightly different and 21 different again.

Forgot all the extra spec!!

SportLine sort of straddles the two, but for 2018 it was split to the base SportLine and SportLine Plus. In essence

SportLine (MY17)

8 inch Columbus navigation system

19 inch Vega wheels

Black styling pack

Half leather/alcantara sport seats with power and memory on the drivers seat

10 colour ambient lighting

KESSY

Adaptive cruise control

Black headlining

on top of SE spec NOT SE-L! So no power boot etc but that’s often added.

SportLine (MY18-19)

8 inch Amundsen navigation system

All of the above

SportLine Plus (MY18-19)

9.2 inch Columbus navigation system

Power bootlid

Front parking sensors

All of the above

This is very helpful, thank you.

Do you know if things such as collision avoidance / alert, XDS+, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, reversing camera would have been optional only?

Lastly on the ACC, how smart is the system generally? I have a V90 and its very good, follow to a stop etc. Given how relaxed it makes long motorway journeys, something comparable is definitely on the want list.

Front assist is standard with ACC, vented seats. Heated steering wheel, vented seats and camera are all optional even on L&K. There is is a very high spec SE-L 220 TSi with those options for pretty cheap on AT so that’s a contender if you can go for 91k on the clock. Obviously the manual cars don’t come with Traffic Jam Assist but I don’t know if that was standard with the DSG or optional. If it was optional it can be retrofitted but not by the dealer.

I've a few brochures that may be of use, one from Nov '17, one from Jan '18 and a final one from July  '18.  I've also got some from '19 if needed (I was toying with buying a Superb for entirely too long...)

Do you have one for a 2016 model, seems to be an illusive one and I cannot find it anywhere. Thanks.
