BCM or CCM Module repair or second hand one

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of someone who can repair the relay on the above module as my wipers have stopped and the motor is all ok. Part number 6Q1937049F, Siemens 5WK48217 from a 2007 MK2 Fabia 1.4 TDI. Also if I buy a second hand one can it only be reprogrammed by a main dealer.

I am unsure of any of that but I know I had an issue with my wipers some years back, where the mechanic discovered corrosion on the terminals of what I believe to be the item you mean. They cleaned them up as best as they could and the unit was then working fine. They did advise that if it went again, it may be a replacement issue but it has remained working ever since. So it may just be worth having a good look at its connectors.

Why do you say that the motor is OK? Is that from bench testing from a 12V source? Hotwiring it type of thing?

Unless the Fabia is unique then do you realise that its not a relay in the BCM but a coded signal via the canbus?

It could be the BCM but it could equally be the canbus node in the wiper motor housing, you should really do a VCDS scan to determine which.

apologies if you have already done this or the Fabia has an old school set up, I just wanted to avoid you possibly replacing an expensive BCM that may not be faulty.

For Mk1 Fabia, and Mk2's of this age, there is indeed a relay in the BCM or 'Onboard Supply Control unit' as it was referred to in those days.

I did a little guide on replacing said relay on Mk1s, and am talking to the OP about having a go at this one.

Not sure if all Mk2 Fabias are the same in this respect, haven't looked into it (yet). @Tech1e probably knows?

Minimal coding with VCDS would code a secondhand unit to match your current one as far as I know, but mk2s may have diverged from this, I think that even registered VCDS Lite can't do it, as it can on Mk1.

They are the same up to 10MY when they changed to a fully fledged BCM.

They have the same 6Q0, 6Q1 and 6Q2 variants though.

 Ta.

And from me as well to you both!

A Fabia is sounding more and more attractive!

Maybe I will look at Roomsters again.

Not in red, though as you'll look like Postman Pat!

I tried to get my missus to consider a Roomy recently to replace the now 15 year old Fabia. She has to carry a fair bit of kit around for work, which packs out the Fabia, but would be much easier in a Roomster.

I think if I had cocked up the recent engine/clutch work we may well have gone down that route.  (And one of the prime selection criteria for the Fabia was "I really like that red colour" so...).

Sorry to bother you again @Tech1e, but if the overlap between Mk1 and Mk2 Fabias' central electrics control units goes to MY10, does that mean VCDS Lite and third-party cables will work on those cars? I guess you've never had to work with with such downmarket tools though?! :D

Any early Mk2 owners tried that diagnostic kit with success?
