Disable romote for boot

Featured Replies

Hi.

I am sick of going outside in a morning to find the boot half open and all the contents showing.

Its been talked about before, but cant find it.

Guessing its the remove being pressed while in pocket.

How do you disable it

Try taking the key out your pocket when home and place it in a Faraday pouch. Should stop random boot opening and also protect your car from someone using relay theft to steal your car.

What KennyR said, but I'd add that if you have other keys on the same ring as your fob, then get a Faraday bag that will accommodate all of them easily. I learned that when stuffing the fob and other keys into a small bag, the other keys can press on the fob before the bag is closed and activate something in the car. In my case it was partial window opening, which I've now fixed by buying a larger Faraday bag.

A cheaper way is to find yourself a small, lidded receptacle, line it with baking foil and keep your keys in that. Baking foil will block the signal from your fob as will some lidded tins, but whichever method you try, test it before relying on it as not all tins and baking foil were created equal.

In reality, all you need to do is to retrain yourself to take your fob out of your pocket when entering your house.

Whats worse is, its my wifes car and  its her second one. So had Kodiaq's for about 6 years. She thought the button unlocked, not opened the boot

I put then other side of house but always in and out with them for shed/garage etc. I thought someone posted how to disable button

I got a naff plastic cover for mine to prevent it opening the boot in my pocket.

Works well.
