Skoda Connect pairing

Featured Replies

I am trying to activate Skoda Connect on my car. I have downloaded the app on my Android phone and registred an account. I have activated by entering the VIN but it then says to connect using smartlink+. When I connect the phone to the car it launches Android Auto. I have tried disable Android Auto and reconnecting the cable and tried fiddeling around in the smrtlink settings. But the app never connects to the car. Is there some trick to make this work ?

As I understand it, the Skoda Connect app doesn't connect directly to the car; the car sends data to a server and the app reads it from there. You need to link your account to the car but you don't have to physically connect your phone, set up instructions here:

Have you missed the step "ensure that you have an Internet connection with the vehicle"? If so, you'll need to set up the car's wi-fi connection to first.

i launch the Skoda Connect app first on my phone, before connecting the cable as that launches Android Auto.

the app will connect/pair in the background at some point while ur driving.

if ur desperate, once android auto is running, on ur phone, keep hitting the "home" button, then launch the Skoda Connect app.  make sure u don't disconnect the cable at any point.

@JR RS @Cliff_K Do you have the built-in emergency call system? I do, but if you don't, this would explain why you have to plug your phones in but I don't.

Out of curiosity what do people use the connect app for? I can't remember anything useful for my MY when I used it the one time.

Nope, we don't get that here in Australia.

We don't have the infrastructure setup for it.

I do not understand how would I add a internet connection to the car ? Do I need to plug in  a usb-modem somewhere? My car is a 2016 if that makes any difference

I can connect mine (2018MY) to wi-fi but I don't think this is possible with a 2016 car, in fact I'm not sure you'll be able to use Skoda Connect at all. Try @JR RS's trick to connect though.

I guess those are the minimum, free of charge features which I agree are nothing special. However for people who opt to get the "Care Connect - Remote Access" pack with Skoda there are some really useful features like:

- "Door & Lights" showing the current status with the option of actually Locking or Unlocking the car via the app (I needed that once when I walked 10min to get to a car park only to realize the key was with my wife)

- Activation and scheduling of the Webasto heater (invaluable for the winter but also good for the summer)

- "Driving data" with all the info about previous journeys (distance, trip time, consumption)

- Parking Position

- Area notification (if the car moves outside of a predefined area you get an alert)

I find them really useful especially due to the access from my smartphone so I bought a year's subscription for little less than 40EUR after the 1st free year was over:image.thumb.png.7dd2002f7e6786cc919ef609d84d8cea.png

What I didn't renew was the "Infotainment Online" bit which is stuff like Online Traffic, POIS, Weather, News that never used even during my 1st free year of it as I get it much easier via my phone, seemed rather pointless especially since it needs an Internet Connection to work (can't be bothered with providing a hotspot from my phone all the time neither do I have the dedicated sim card for Internet access module. It seems it could be useful if you don't have a Smartphone and need/can bother to access all that via the car's infotainment  :D

Which year is your car? I can’t connect it at all. Its a L&K Superb production 2015 but it’s 2016 model (3). It says that i dont have an SOS Button or that i dont have infotainment with online connection.

Mine is MY17.  I had to connect to the car's WLAN for the app to work.

The MySkoda app is even more useless now.

I stopped using it about 2 yrs ago.

Yes, ur model year has neither SOS nor online capability.

U need to at least have an MIB3 unit (found in facelift models), and living in Europe somewhere, for the MySkoda app to useful!!

Edited by JR RS

MIB3 in London here and it’s ok. Can lock and unlock it, honk or flash the lights, get any defects reported, and a few bits of detail like VIN.
Not a patch on a Merc system which tells you it’s raining and you left the sunroof open so it’s going to shut it for you…
