Reset Columbus SatNav Home position

Featured Replies

Hi,  The satnav has picked up a random address as my home position.

I cant see any way of clearing this and setting a new home position in Columbus.

Can anyone help?

I'm the same. Managed to change it to present position whilest on the drive and it shows correctly on the map. However whenever I set home it takes me to the start or the end of the road not the house. Never had a Sat Nav like that before.

Yeah, mine does that as well, the house icon shows the correct position on the map but it tells me that I have arrived when I'm two roads away!

Unless I'm very much mistaken, the sat nav can be switched on without the ignition being activated.

It would therefore be possible for anyone who may break into the car to find out what the owners address is by simply activating the sat nav and looking at the "Home" location and subsequently stealing the keys later.

It may well be prudent, not storing your home address as you know where you live, but store a nearby general location instead, something a station (bus or rail), library etc, near to your home address, as your home address. I use the village next to the one I live in, not my actual address.

I would think you could find your way home from the end of the road though ... Once I'm on familiar turf I always stop route guidance.

I don't like valet parking or anything where you hand your keys over to some spotty yoof to drive your car, but it's a simple enough precaution to use a near bye post code just in case of key theft, the Wanderer is right. If I dropped my keys which include the house keys, and someone just pressed the remote and found the car at least they wouldn't be able to drive over and wander in.

:D ...Err...yeah, obviously....:D  I only set it so I can get route eta's when I'm away rather than having to input it all the time. The icon is only on my road not actually near my house so I don't think it's too much a security risk for me.
