Windscreen wiper behaviour

Featured Replies

Hi,

When the front wipers are on with the engine running, and the ignition is switched off, my wipers stay in their last position, often verticle.

On my last car the wipers would complete their travel and finish in the horizontal position.

Is this normal behaviour for the Superb, or is my control unit faulty?

If the wipers park vertically you must be pushing the wiper stalk down when exiting and putting them in the maintenance position.

Hi Shugmo. My MY17 superb does exactly that. Other skoda's auto park. Skoda tech told me it was deliberate so snow would not build up stopping them 'rising' if the screen is covered in snow. He could not explain why the courtesy car i had didnt do it, or any audi, ford etc. It is a setting that can be changed via coding.  Along the lines of 'park when ignition off' change inactive to active.

For ignition the wordibg used is terminal 15.  It was in an octavia vcds thread and you can see the setting (in the tear wipe section) in the superb vcds thread.

No. Definitely not doing that. It looks like a coding issue.

yes, mine does that too - if u switch the ignition off while the wipers r midway through wiping, it will stop mid-sweep!!
it is annoying really.

would be nice if it completed the sweep and returned to base, or park position.

mine is MY17.

Unfortunately with MY17 onwards there is no more long coding for 09-Electrics.

It's all via adaptations now.

So that thread doesn't help :-(

I went through all my front wiper related adaptations in 09-electrics and I couldn't find anything related to park with ignition off.

no luck.

This all seems very complicated - why don't you just turn the wipers off before you turn the ignition off? The engine is the last thing I turn off before I get out of the car.

Thanks.

Hadn't thought of that.

My 2018 sportline parks the wipers after I switch off the ignition - I was surprised it did to be honest but it definitely does.

I have VCDS and would be happy to provide a log of the coding and adaptions map for this if someone can give me a clue which module it comes under?

(I’m looking at doing a full dump of the adaptions possibly tomorrow morning if I have time for my own records against mods I’ve done with Carista since owning the car)
