Jacking kit - Anything missing?

Featured Replies

Decided to inspect the spare wheel and jacking kit in my recently acquired 2017 Yeti. Is there anything missing here, or is it all complete?

There's an empty void between the jack and wheel brace, and there's an empty compartment to the left of the spare wheel..

Is this thing there to remove the wheel bolt caps?
Also a double ended screwdriver with Torx on 1 end?

No, haven't seen those, I'll have an other look.

In my first photo, what is the circular metal clip for, and the allen key? Also in the centre of the photo there's a plastic clip that looks like it's designed to hold two tubes together?

The circular metal clip is for removing the rear light cluster so you can change a bulb. Check in the owners manual and all should be clear.

I think that is what's it's for. Probably holds two tubes or wires apart on the engine somewhere so they don't  rub

Is the locking wheel nut key there, can't see it.

Metal clip is for removing the fog lights and for removing wheel covers for cars that have steel wheels.
Is the allen really screwdriver one end and Torx the other end, if yes its a cheap replacement for the screw/Torx driver used to remove rear light clusters and other jobs.

If it's missing take a picture of the licking but in close up, invert it on a computer as in a mirror image, then go on best and find a second hand one that matches. I did that when I lost mine (left on the nut when I drive off!), and saved a lot of money. There are surprisingly few variations of licking but designs.

It does look like its not there as the storage hole is empty.

Something worth adding is a long screw in rod, cost under £10. Take a bolt out at the top and screw the rod in before removing rest of the bolts. It supports  the wheel in place and makes putting the you're on much easier as the bolt holes line up. Very useful when swapping from summer to winter wheels if you have some.

Looks like the locking wheel bolt key should be here.

I found the locking wheel nut in the glove box. Now I know where it should be stored I shall return it to its rightful home, thanks.

It took me a while to realise the spelling mistake

My phone changes spellings after I have checked what is typed whilst posting. Very annoying

That's exactly what it is. Push the open end into the space between the plastic bolt cover and the recess, squeeze slightly and pull off the caps. I tell you it is a b*gg** to remove the caps without this tool - don’t lose it!!!

I think it's missing, I'll have a closer look tomorrow in daylight. If not then eBay have them for about £3

Mine does this, changes it into things I type regularly.    Hmmmmm.   Yours did Licking Butt.

First pic, red arrow points to where the pot of snot (tyre repair glue cannister) would sit if required.

Second pic left hand side, just storage. Second pic right hand side, most likely compressor to go with the pot of snot.

Thanks, looks like everything is complete, especially as I've now found the wheel bolt removal tool...

Re the rectangular slot in the first pic, I had a Skoda emergency bulb kit in that space on delivery ..... didnt ask for it nor pay for it as far as I'm aware, but it was in that space.

Hope it helps

Probably worth checking it actually fits your nuts (ooo-errr!) otherwise it makes all the other bits superfluous!

When I had the Yetis, I replaced the locking wheel bolts with normal ones.

Found the locking wheel nut socket easily got damaged when used and then didnt work !!

Wheel theft isnt such an issue these days ( is it ?).

Not to my knowledge it isn't, and I work in a sector that should know. Catlalytic converter thefts are the new alloy wheel thefts.

Alloy wheel theft is very much still a thing. Even off cars sitting on Dealership forecourts.

It might well be Golf R and other similar type cars they want rather than from a Yeti.
