coding the multimedia to turn off at car lock, not door open

Featured Replies

HI guys,

I want to make the multimedia to turn off when i lock the car, not when i open the door. ON the current configuration (O3FL 01.20717, Columbus, kessy) when the car switches off and i open the drivers door the music playing from the radio stops. On our other octavia ()3 FL, 04.2019, Amundsen, kessy) the radio stops playing when we exit the car and lock it.

Is there a way to code this function or something similar through vcds?

I honestly don't remember what my car does. But I've suffered from loud music when car doors were opened.

My music goes off when the ignition is switched off. Never mind when I lock the door.

Mine goes off as soon as I remove the key.

ok guys, i got that your media goes off when you "remove the key" or "ignition is switched off".

The question here is can i change this to "when i lock the car" which is valid for a car manufactured  04.2019.....

It could be coding, an adaption channel or the module software version :)

Given you've got a two cars that behave differently, the best plan is to autoscan and create adpmaps for each and see what's different...

Thanks for the suggestions, i know how to do the autoscan, this is easy. However i don't know how to create adpmaps. I checked on ross-tech website and found this article:

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Control_Module_Maps

Do i have to do #1 or #2 from the description there?

It's #2. You should get a dialog box like this: https://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/controller-channels-map.php

I'd probably enter:

- Single controller: 5F

- No security code

- Adaptions

- CSV file

Either PLA or CSV should be fine but I'm more familiar with CSV so I tend to choose that ;)

Bare in mind, you'll get end up with a CSV with ~2000-3000 lines in it so comparing might take a while. If you post them, I'll try and run them through some python I put together.

Thanks langers2k,

The one car is here with me, from the other will have it on Sunday or beginning of next week and will scan it.

Can i ask why you want to change it?  Surely you want the audio off once key removed or with KESSEY as I know it, when door is opened.  Why leave on till its locked?

VAG seem to change their mind seemingly at random depending on year of manufacture and market - for example on my 2007 Audi the media would stay on until I removed the key but on my 2015 Skoda it goes off when I turn the ignition off; and on US websites many Audi owners complain that even on earlier model years it behaves this way instead of the way my Audi did.

So it seems model year, market, and how the VAG software guys "felt" are factors that determine when the media goes off

I want to do it cause i want to listen to the music a bit more when exiting the car. Also there are some times in which i am staying in the car with the door open and is bothering to have to turn on manually on and off.

BTW. if the brake pedal is pressed and i open the door the media stays plays until i depress it...

to second  what @langers2ksays, Admaps or Controller Maps are very useful things to see what's "active/configured " in the adaptions lists, 5F on my car has nearly 900 rows of code.

I seem to remember that if you make adaption changes VCDS creates a log of this in the logs folders, perhaps @langers2k could confirm this? I've never had to go back to it yet, as always record all my steps manually with screen shots and don't attempt things I'm not confident to change.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

So, i took the newer octavia the last couple of days to see what is the behavior.

It appears that the switching off of the media is connected to the ignition.

The older one is switching off the ignition immediately when i open the drivers door, whereas the newer one is (usually)  switching off the ignition when i lock the door (both have keyless).

Do you still need the map from the multimedia or shall i get the map from some other module - (maybe the comfort module)?

A bit of bump here.

I'd like ask a moderator to change the name of the thread to "change the ignition on and off behavior with Kessy" , thanks :)

The question now is - how to code the ignition to turn off  when i lock the car instad to turn off when i open the driver's door?
