Coolant

Featured Replies

Yesterday on starting the carafter 5 days,  I got the coolant level warning. The warning disappeared after 3 restarts. But it's back again today.

On checking it,  it seems just below the MIN mark.

I looked for the specification of coolant and found G12 on a digital manual I downloaded. But in printed manual that came with the car,  it mentions G13. I searched in couple of filing stations here,  and none of them have G13. I found G12. Can top up with it?

Thanks.

vRS with 10K kms on the clock.

Expansion tank should have required coolant marked on it G12 or G13

@ThreeSixty In answer to your question - yes, you can mix G12 and G13 on refilling/topping up.

Thanks Kenny R, will look at the tank again...

Thanks Arkaig, that extract sure does dispel any doubts.

Could'nt find a G13, finally got a G12++. SHELL Longlife G 12++

@ThreeSixty

After you have done a top up this time to MAX or just below MAX do not do another top up before letting a Dealership know and have this logged and investigated?

?

Did you check what the level was when you collected the car, and how many km has the car done since you got it?

Edited by e-Roottoot

I had the same on my last Yeti and wifes Karoq

Seems like there must have been a mall air lock somewhere in both - because after topping up the one time never needed to do it again on either car.

Will do @e-Roottoot. I had not checked the level on delivery. Got the warning at 10,100 kms to be precise. Came as a surprise to me as I've never topped up coolant in my previous cars ( 3 - all non-Skoda) just regular servicing.

I filled it to between MAX and min to not Max level. The level was indeed below the MIN mark.
