Replacement guide for cam belt for 2 litre TDI

Featured Replies

Hi there - Just wondering if anyone has created a step by step guide for replacing a cam belt on a 2litre TDI engine code BFGB. (Likely to be similar across all codes)

Haven't managed to easily find anything using the search function.

thanks in advance.

You can purchase the Skoda service manual at https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

Thanks Chimaera - any idea how much it costs?  I can't see anything without creating an account with them.

It's free to create an account. After that you pay for access for an amount of time. An hour is around €10, 24 h is about €30. The 24 h is usually enough to find your way around and download all manuals for your car.

BFGB? Not come across that code.

My engine code is CFGB, did mine in the last lockdown.

But these will give you an idea of what is involved:

I would advise replacing the tensioner stud if it does not come in your kit.

Always replace the water pump too if you are keeping the car.

Thanks for that - he replaced it on the weekend, and did the belt, the water pump, and also the tensioner stud.
