Hi there. I’m Scott from New Zealand. I bought an Octavia Scout 3 a few months back as I needed to be rid of the Mazda MPV that was getting a bit tired. I love the scout but there have been a few faults already (lucky for dealer warranty). It’s a 1.8 petrol and I’m getting 7.3L/100km on average which I think is awesome. I’ve upgraded it already with a double USB kit in the rear. Got all the parts from a friend who looks after Audi parts in NZ. Also want CarPlay as mine is the MIB1 non CarPlay system but I’ll post elsewhere about that. I’m happy with the scout as transport, it’s roomy, comfortable and different IMO. There are 4 other skodas in my extended family and they are all rated by their owners. Anyway, I hope the reliability is sorted now as I want to enjoy this car (Jeffrey) for many years.

The pic was taken on the Glenorchy-Paradise road which is northwest of Queenstown. About 30km from Milford sound if you have a helicopter. Awesome road apart from the unfinished section. Stunning scenery.

I would love to see how you got the double USB kit - assuming these only provide power.  Something else to do my 2019 Scout!!  Re: MIB1 system.  If you speak v.nicely to @pab567 he might be able to assist you with an Amunsden MIB2 system and you can retro-fit a GPS unit on the dashboard (noticed you don't have a sharkfin on the roof).

I ordered the USB parts from my friend who conveniently looks after Audi parts here in NZ. 😁 I think there is a thread on here which has the info already on which parts to order. The hardest part was attaching the wires to the accessories socket without pulling the centre console to pieces as the factory wires have no slack. Only took about an hour in total. 
 

I have the Columbus 8” screen MIB1 with gps already but will either keep a look out for a newer unit or buy a Chinese add on. I will keep looking and thinking. 

I took the leap! I ordered a Chinese Carplay add-on box and it works on my MIB1 Columbus. I'm stoked it works but I had a backup plan (which would have cost more) as well just in case. My neighbour bought a 2016 Scout cheap to fix and sell, he said I can take bits and swap if I want. So I had the stereo bagsied. No need now though. Delivery came in 9 days too which is amazing in these covid times.

Another adventure out in the middle of nowhere.  Very rough road which the scout just shrugged off. 

A couple more issues to add to the ever increasing list of issues. I think this car was a late Friday night build…😩

The hvac fan was blowing hard but the air was not coming out of the vents. Luckily there is a reset/recalibration procedure which I’ve done, we’ll see if that stays working.

The front doors weren’t unlocking along with the boot lid not operating properly and not closing. Plus the car wouldn’t stay started. It’s done this twice now recently and it did a similar thing about a year ago which ended up needing a replacement boot lock. So I’ve sprayed some wd40 in the lock and wiped codes to see if that helps. 

Well the hvac is not fixed… there’s something amiss. It sounds like it blowing but it isn’t. Recalibration sequence shows it can blow but ends the sequence not blowing. 😩

Sounds like you need a new blower motor and fan. Suspect that the cardon between the fan and blades has failed. Please also check your cabin air filter in the Glovebox to make sure it is not blocked.

I've just tried the blower on hot and it works just fine so it must have a problem with the cold side flap motor I reckon. Summertime here so didn't think about using hot... As soon as I can get it into my garage I will pull some panels.

Motor flap for sure in that case. CANBUS should have thrown an error to confirm that.

I’m not very experienced with vcds but it does show a code saying flap is stuck. I will attempt to repair it myself as the Skoda dealer knows how to charge. 

That’s one thing NZ and UK dealerships have in common! 
 

We spent a month travelling around both Islands on our honeymoon a few years back. Loved every minute.

 

The roads are nice and quiet (apart from Auckland) and the scenery is stunning.

 

It was a bit overcast the couple of days we stayed in Frank Josef however we still managed to get a helicopter up to the Glacier.

 

Spotted a good number of muscle cars out there too.

 

One day we’ll emigrate.
