Head Unit Issues - Please Help!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a Skoda Superb 2014 and I need to purchase a replacement head unit as the screen is not working on the current one. I have attached some images of my head unit and have tried searching Ebay etc but I'm really looking for advice on how to know I'm purchasing the correct model. I realise this is probably a silly question! Can anyone offer any guidance please?

Many thanks in advance,

Woah - what did you do to it!?

It looks like it was a Skoda Bolero and the correct method to remove it is shown below. Once it's out, there will be a sticker with a part number on to confirm.

Thank you so much for getting back to me!

I have located the serial number and was desperately hoping someone could point me in the direction of a second hand listing which would definitely fit. Thank you in advance - all help greatly appreciated!

The part number is 3T0035156G so ideally, you would replace it like for like.

Saying that, they are much more expensive that I would have expected for such an old and relatively basic headunit. Only identical unit I saw on eBay is in Lithunania: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393003210521

It probably doesn't help the Superb has a unique shape for it's Bolero.

Thank you SO much.

I am finding when looking for similar ones that there seems to be nowhere for the ‘passenger airbag’ part at the bottom of the radio to fit into. I guess this means I can’t get one of the cheaper universal ones from EBay?

You probably need a surround like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/174223975157

That would let you use a Columbus/RNS-510 shaped unit. I'm not super familiar with the Superb so hopefully someone can advise further.

What head unit are you planning to fit to replace the damaged Bolero unit?

Unless you have a clear answer to that question, it's difficult for any of us to offer advice.

I don’t have a clue. A cheap one....

Sorry this is all beyond me and the more I research, the more complicated it seems to get.

Hi Sophie, are you based in the NW?
I had a message from a guy I know yesterday (won't mention here just yet) looking to buy my old Columbus unit for this exact car, even using that same photo of the missing front plate!!

So what's the deal here?

Hello,

Yes I am based in the NW - I run a car dealership alongside a couple of family members! Very strange!
