Can you retrofit GOLF MK7 GTI seats into Octavia?

Featured Replies

So both cars are built on MQB Platform so seat rails should be the same, question is are the plugs same too?

For example my Octavia Elegance has manual heated seats and Im looking to retrofit manual heated GTI seats, in theory there should be the same plugs or atleast same amount of plugs?

Help me

I am following the thread because the seats of the octavia are really bad.

As a start - measure the rails - length between the two bolts of each rail an the width between the rails.

I checked plugs on both cars, they are different, amount of wires is also different so you need electrician who can make it work and that can be very expensive. Sad.

Why don't you seek seats of Octavia with better trim? Leather and alcantara seats are perfect on Octavia.

The seats are exactly the same on elegance and laurin klement, cover is the only difference, its just these GTI hugging seats are very comfortable, but since I cant retrofit them easily I’ll probably cover original seats with leather

The wires are likely to do the same function just different plug ends.  Do a bit of homework and make an adapter that links the cables.

I really rather not play with airbag wiring if I want to keep my seats, we looked wiring and wires are different, on octavia 1 plug even had more wires..

They aren't. Leather and alcantara seats are completely different then one on Elegance and Style.

I wasnt comparing to style, my car is elegance which has the same seats that other higher trims have (except vrs).Base model seats are nightmare :D.

There is a thread on here where people have put Audi A3 seats into their Octavia.

Thank you! Maybe I need to look for 2013-2015 seats to have identical connectors, gti seats that I looked at are from 2018 model.

This is definitely an issue but not a game changer.

I have seen a pic of a full set (front and back) and it looked great.  Not obviously from a different car.

Airbag wiring is really simple - you have only two wires there and is nothing difficult (not sure, but i think even the connectors are the same.

If you seats are electric without memory then you have to supply just 12V to i think red/black and brown wires - they were thicker that the rest on the connector.

If the seats have memory than the motors work differently and you need somebody who knows what he is doing.

For me the mechanical fitting is more difficult because if the rails have different dimensions and fixing points than you may not be able to mount them....

You are also right that the seats of normal octavia and L&K differ only by the covers. Both of them provide mildly said terrible experience and comfort. Even the sport or RS seats are quite shallow, wide and still uncomfortable. On top of this they are ugly too :)

If you are looking for audi seat look for S line, the others are not comfy too. The S-line are great. Also bear in mind that there are also seats which are the same as s-line, but they are not branded on the leather with the logo and they are still very good. Last but not least - the "deep" s-line seats are also available in cloth, not only leather.
