No luggage compartment lights

Featured Replies

Hi 2009 fl 1.9tdi estate

replace tailgate at weekend ( rusty around lock release and number plate lights ) with second hand replacement ( and battery ( was original and didn’t like the cold weather and no daytime running so not get decent charge and tester stated ‘ FAILED REPLACE ‘ )

everything seems to work however I’ve not got either of the interior luggage compartment lights working ( however the tailgate open warning light on the dash works ) I remember that these lights used to go out on their own after a while even if the tailgate was still open so guessing there’s a timer somewhere, does that need resetting however other interior lights work on the doors and extinguish correctly ( seem to think tailgate lights stayed on a lot longer though so different timer maybe? )

checked bulb in one light ( do they both need to work maybe I should check both )

any ideas please

Did the boot compartment lights work before you swapped the tailgate over?

You could try swapping the lock mechanism from the old tailgate to the replacement one.

There are 4 pins inside the lock mechanism and if one fails it can affect the lights not working. The lock on the replacement tailgate could be faulty.

Mine didn't work at all nor did I get the open warning on the dash.

Replaced the lock mechanism with a brand new Skoda original part and everything is working fine now.

Yes the did work before I changed the tailgate 😀

much appreciate the advice ( guessing I’ll need to remove the plastic trip to access the lock mechanism ) I’ll have a play when we get some decent weather ( and I don’t NEED the car ) so maybe over Christmas

It only took me about an hour to change the lock over.

The trim needs a firm but gentle pull to remove start from the piece closest to the lock and work your way round to the middle then repeat for the other side if needed. The lock is held in by torx head bolts. Think they were T30/T40.
