Skoda Fabia Mk2 - Rear Door Striker Plate Screw Head Type?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Skoda Fabia Mk2 is leaking from the passenger side rear door after heavy rain. It looks like the rear door isn't closing totally flush to the bodywork so I'd like to adjust the striker plate to help the door close a bit tighter.

I have seen conflicting info online about what type of screwdriver/key that I can use to adjust the plate - would someone be able to advise on what type of tool I should use to adjust the plate?

From reading online, I thought that it would be a torx driver but I'm not sure so thought I'd ask here!

Something like this? -> https://www.amazon.co.uk/TOPEX-35D960-Torx-Key-Set-T10-T50/dp/B00MOD3LD4/

A photo of the striker plate is below for reference:

Thanks! :)

Nope not Torx.

XZN/triple-square or Spline bit is what you need depending on whether the angle inside each of the 12 points is 90 or 60 degrees respectively.

I thought most VW group fasteners were XZN/90 but that photo doesn't show it clearly enough for me to be sure.

Take a pic completely square on to one of ghe heads and it may be clearer.

Hi, don't know if this will help a few weeks ago changed the strike plate and bolts on rear door due to an accident, i used a T40 3/8 drive neilson socket as i found the torx set you pictured was a loose fit and thought it might round off as they were tight to undo, socket and drive bar did the job fine, mine was a 1.9 tdi 2008 mk2 fabia

Looks to be 90 degrees to me.

The most common water leak on Fabia doors is the seal between the steel window lift panel behind the trim card and the door itself. It will appear as water sitting on top of the rubber door seal. To check, take off the door trim card, wedge something between the glass and the outer window seal and pour water down inside the door. It should all come out through the drain holes. If it doesn't then the drain holes are blocked but it may dribble down the inside of the door. It's difficult to spot with the door card in place. If it's leaking there then you will have to try ans seal it but that's another story. Good luck!
