LED Indicator on left headlight is lit all the time

Featured Replies

Hi!

LED Indicator on left headlight is lit all the time.

I've had xenon kit 55w with canbus for over 3 years without any problem.

Does anyone know what this is and how to solve it?

Yup, you've blown a channel in the BCM which is likely due to your xenon kit.

You either need to replace the BCM or find someone who can repair it :)

Or you have water ingress into it, either way, the special smoke needs to be refitted to the ecu as it has been released. I may have one (J519) kicking around somewhere, you will need to recode it as my car has most options bar sunroof, so you may need to turn some things off.

When electronics go wrong they let out smoke, to make them work, just put the smoke back in :D

Lucas kit for older vehicles, not sure it'll be compatible with a VAG BCM ;)

Ha, special smoke like Langers2k says is an in joke with diagnostic techs.

It came in my case when attending an advanced electrics course at Milton Keynes training school when it was at Yeomans Drive back in the 80’s.

Very precious is special smoke, once you have released it, you need to go to the parts department for new special smoke to put back in the ecu ;-))
