Yes the car is less than 6 years old

Yeah the dsg box was serviced by skoda.

All service history is skoda till the last one which is independent.

Yes only time the dsg box has been touched.

I honestly think you have some grounds for some goodwill from Skoda then.

Have you contacted them?

A totally different car and a totally different DSG being about a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch in a Mk2 Fabia, but this applies with all DQ200's 2009-2020.

'Dynamic Shift Programme',  Short term memory.

But lend your car to someone, try a demonstrator etc, hire car, and it might feel one way or another, and then knows what it has to do once you give at a bit of spirited driving.

I have read that one too mate!  Nothing on that page says it remembers anything about the way you drive.

It reacts to your use of the throttle "on the basis of pre-defined driving programmes" as you do it

Each model using the DQ250 will have a different set of values so comparing any Octy model to anything else (including a different Octy) is a bit pointless. Only way to change those pre-defined values is to remap the TCU. The guys who remap them for a living are not aware of any changes to the maps. What they map is fixed

I have properly driven 5 DQ250 cars and still have regular access to 3 of them (jumped into many more for a blast). They all react exactly the same as last time I drove them to how I mash the throttle.

There may be differences due to the self-adjustment of the clutches to maintain the bite point but I cannot see anything else that is stored. Nothing else is changed by a "Basic Reset" other than that bite point adjustment.

Like I say I would still like to see something different in black and white

But mate.

Drive the car, drive it for long time mister, and then let your partner drive it and there it is back as a lazy so and so.

Do it with various cars, like ones at dealerships, sales cars. demonstrators and you will see how that DQ200 will behave as you want until it resets.

It is not magic, or an internet myth, just how the settings are. or can be.

I never notice it with 2.0 TDI's / TSI's,  but then i do with DQ200 DSG's, they are fitted to cars where booting it might just be needed to get a shift on with.

Just try some 1.4 TSI 132-136kW Twinchargers, or 1.8 TSI 192ps with a DQ200 DSG like in a Euro 6 Polo GTI.

So pre set programmes as you say.   But then that is all you need.

Best not spoil Christmas for those that believe in Santa, and do not tell believers that DSG's are not magic and have memories or feelings.

Believe in the unbelievable. There is too much horrible science & engineering going on in the world!

?

Did VW tell you in black and white about defeat devices / engine management software pre or post 2015, or about the DSG defeat devices found since 2015?

They always have an out because goodwill is discretionary ex gratia and depends a on who is assessing and how they feel on the day. 2 near identical cases are not always treated same.

OP, you need a proper independent report on the failure and the only party you will have consumer traction with is the dealer you purchased the car from.

The Main Dealer servicing the DSG at around the 40,000 mark is not an out.

As long as it was before the 40,000 miles or very near.   That was to the Manufacturers Reomendations.

Not having anything done to the DSG up to 58,000 miles should not be a problem.

As for the Service by an Independent then that gives reason to not even consider 'Goodwill'

You make your choices and take your chances when you go 'Independent', but even if it had been at a Main Dealers for a Service you can get told to get on your bike.

It's fine thanks for the advice lads just the most recent service was done by independent around the 55k mile mark.

Just see what skoda say. Did initially take it there no fault codes were showing at the time. So they rang skoda technical department and plugged it in charged us 60 quid or so they charge .

Then advised around 300 pound mark to check gearbox and reset some software. Thought they was taking the **** . So took it to gearbox specialist.

See what happens when I take it back .
