DSG Reversing Question

Featured Replies

Hi,

search didn't help so hopefully someone else can.

My parking space requires me to reverse up an incline of about 10 degrees at an angle, then move forward into my car port. (half of a 3 point turn)

After engaging reverse I gently tap the throttle and let the car creep backwards, then drive forward. No issues.

If I want to move a bit more swiftly in reverse, people waiting etc, and I apply some throttle to move it quickly there is a big thud when I let of the gas.

Is this just normal behaviour of the DSG clutch disengaging under load, or a sign of something more serious?

Thanks

My guess is that when reversing slowly that the clutch never fully engaged and continues to slip.

Pressing harder likely fully engages the clutch and so when releasing it is causing a this (could just be the drivetrain in general) or the clutch it self.

Doing this in a manual would likely bring the same result.

My thinking exactly.

It does feel like a manual gearbox when the clutch is "dumped" rather than ridden.

I have a similar sloping driveway to reverse up and my DSG does the same as yours, let's hope it's normal
