Using SD card to play music

Featured Replies

Apologies in advance as this must have been asked about previously.

I have music files on SD cards that I would like to play via the Columbus unit in my Karoq.  Is there a simple guide as to what leads/adaptors will work with the USBc sockets in the car? I've looked on Amazon but some say they don't work with in car media? Help please!

TIA

Andy

I suppose you could get a SD card adapter with a USB-A plug and a USB-C adapter, but it would be rather bulky.

I've transferred all my music onto a tiny USB memory stick - with a USB-C connector on one end and a USB-A on the other.

Like this: Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s

I got mine from https://www.mymemory.co.uk/integral-128gb-fusion-dual-usb-c-usb-3-1-flash-drive-200mb-s.html, currently £21, and it fits under the sliding cover in the Karoq.

Thank you for the reply, looks to be my best option.

My Columbus has 2 SD card sockets in the glove box - 32 GB each.

Obviously not the latest model that the OP has that has no SD card slots.

Nope - one of the first in fact. It was a launch car at the dealer when the range first came out. MOT in 3 weeks!!

PS Sorry you didn't find my post helpful - it was intended to be helpful. Clearly not as 'obvious' to me as it was to you.

I bought my Superb Sportline 280 a couple of months ago and soon tried to load my music library in to the system on an SD Card. I did some research and understood that older models were limited to relatively small capacity SDs but series 3 models can handle up to 128GB. Sounded great as I have about 80GB of music to store so bought a SanDisk 128GB SD.

I have now tried every format and partition option I can find but the system will not recognise the SD. I have the option of using an iPod but I really would like to use that elsewhere. SanDisk have not helped so can anybody else? If you have some ideas please also consider whether it is possible to transfer the playlists as well? I have tried a 2GB SD and the system sees that. I am amazed the manual does not have more details.
