Handling mod suggestions

Featured Replies

Well, i'm not entirely new to modding my cars ;) , but my new octavia seems to be lacking something. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Having put a rear arb on the Fabia, and enjoyed it's effect, I was considering fitting an uprated one to the Octy. It already has a 25mm bar fitted, so really, what differance would a "race" spec 25mm bar make?

Whilst the car provides a compliant ride, and handles quite well, it's a bit too neutral, my preference being a feel of controllable oversteer. Would the ARB achieve this?

Would uprating the front arb help too? And why?

Damper wise, I have heard so much about Koni FSD shocks. So may have to give them a try. Does anybody have any experience of them?

Basically, the car is a bit too "safe" in the handling department.

Suggestions welcome from knowledgable persons :D

Fit a space saver wheel / tyre combo on the near side rear

I'll do a bit of research for you tonight and let you know. Initial reaction is that it would depend on what material the ARB is made of as to whether it would make that much difference.

I may be talking nonsense, but removing the front ARB or downgrading it should help with oversteer.

I too have heard nothing but praise for the FSD shocks... Would be a top mod imho.

I was thinking the same thing, wouldnt making it stiffer introduce more understeer at the cost of oversteer?

As does a lazy Ford Puma owners on the Queensferry traffic lights turn...shame turn in was compromised by wrong tyres :)

Those charts are invaluable and worth every 30 seconds to download them, and the 10 minutes later to diagnose them :)

Should be on the FSD's myself soon, although coilovers give me the adjustability I could use, I never did and I have the adjustable rear roll bar to compensate as needed :)

Do you think the Koni FSD would take the weight of an Octavia TDI, reason I ask is that I notice they are teh same for the Octy as they are for the Golf :(

Think Jon had a problem on his old slow black skoda with the koni sport ones blowing at the rear. Am I right Jon?

Buy a furby and get a ARB put on?

Dampers shouldnt vary that might with weight, its the springs that differ as they cope with the weight of the vehicle.

Cool, any recommendations for springs to use with the FSD dampers on a 1.9TDi hatch. I don't really want to lower the car much if at all.
