RNS510 Columbus dead DVD-drive

Featured Replies

Hi, guys.

Is it possible to upgrade/update the firmware directly to the HDD, via a PC? My DVD-drive is dead, and my unit seems to be stuck in a loop. I have the original DVD, but that wont do me no good, as long as the drive is defective. I have taken the HDD out of the unit, and I can read one partition via an USB adapter connected to my computer. It contains a folder named Speech and one named DVD. There are also a textfile called HDDFILES. I know there is another partition on the HDD for the music, but that is not visible from Windows...

Not possible. HDD stores only music files, navigation maps and POI - none part of operating system is stored there. You must have your drive replaced. You ca ntry to use CD-R insted of DVD for updating.

@Rustynuts might have a spare dvd drive he could sell you depending on the postage costs to Norway...

Seems that I only have the navigation-DVD, not the SWL... so basically I'm f****

The software updates used to be freely available online but maybe of dubious quality.

Did you try contacting Rusty?
