My Skoda app problem......

Featured Replies

As lots of you will know, the My Skoda apps have been combined into one app. Previously when I used Apple CarPlay in my Kodiaq (2020 2.0 TDI 190 Sportline) I could click on the app and get loads of info - including real time driving data but I now just get an error message sometimes saying it just can’t connect and then sometimes saying my car isn’t compatible with Smartlink + !? Any ideas anyone?

Doesn't look like you're alone:

Gaz

Skoda APP!!

What a piece of nonsense.

I just wasted time re-setting password only for the APP to tell me that my car was unlocked with it's lights on.  Neither was true.

What little data it had for display was all disjointed.  Figures totally wrong.

Why do they bother.  I shan't any more.

Yes, not good is it? Cannot get any service data from my current or SWMBO Yeti.

Only advantage I can see is that it’s not logging me out every time I try and use it (compared with the old connect app), and if that’s the only improvement it’s saying something.

What is the “log book” about? It sounds like the V5C (not possible I know) - hoping it was the service record, but no, it’s a log of journeys - business or personal. Have to have the car play plugged in.

Seems much more of a faff than the small WH Smith diary I keep in the door which I fill in for business miles (with built in low tech pencil no less).

I've always maintained the App answers questions I never asked. "But you can check whether or not your doors are unlocked and then lock them" someone said. Well, I suppose that could be useful but then again I've experienced the exact same as Boxer Boy - the App sometimes says doors are unlocked when they're locked.

So here's my point. If it's that unrelaible, then why in God's name would anyone wish to set up remote locking / unlocking? How can I guarantee the system will not make it's own  unilateral decision to unlock my car? And if it did, would it tell me the doors are locked or unlocked?

An app designed to provide solutions to problems that don't exist.  Is it any real surprise it doesn't work very well?

I can remotely lock / unlock but never have needed to in anger tbh. Good point about security, not had any issues personally but had to disable the wi-fi on my old Outlander as they could be hacked!

I did find on checking the app late one night that the mother-in-law had left her door wide open all evening in the rain, so I suppose that was a help (make up your own mother-in-law joke here). Thank god for rubber floor mats and a wet vac to sort it out (the car not the mother-in-law) - no damage done fortunately.

I was on a cruise (remember them?) and could see the car had been moved in Southampton Docks and was left unlocked (secure compound one hopes). I was sorely tempted to lock it remotely, but who knows what fun and games that may have caused. The car was fine (and was subsequently locked a couple of days later) on pick up, I went over it with a tooth comb. Not tried to remotely lock it if the Kessy key is inside, common sense says it won’t lock - I think a test is required.

I’ve not had the app mis-report the vehicle status as others have said, just that it wouldn’t update (server down), which was quite frequent but much better lately.

Anyhow, Happy New Year to all Briskodians, may 2021 be a better year.

You have to check the period from the last synchronisation on main screen. Sometimes it`s pretty old and you have to sync manually to get updated information.

I've had the app since I got my new Superb in March and it's been working pretty well. However, it decided to stop whilst I was on a trip to the west country and frightened the **** out of me by telling me the car was unlocked. I tried the remote locking but got a message saying that this service hadn't been validated by the dealer. When I got back to the car, it was actually locked.

It's now been three days since the info on both the app and the Skoda Connect portal has been updated. I tried a manual sync but no joy. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the embedded SIM card which I've heard of in the context of tracker systems - sometimes the SIM provider reallocates the number because they think the SIM isn't being used, even though it's being paid for. Or alternatively, maybe the Connect portal is down. Any insight would be very welcome!
