hampshire police octy VRS

Featured Replies

Just watched TRAFFIC COPS on BBC1 at 21.30 , hampshire police were using unmarked octy VRS , in black , copper driving it seemed like he was quite happy with it , I like the sound of that new law they were enforcing , no licence/insurance , they crush your car , gets all those old scrappers off the roads

See them quite often now running up the M3 /M27 Black/Silver .I like the idea as well crush all cars that arnt tax mot etc gets my vote to:thumbup: .

Yeah, saw that too - looked good with the lights in the grille!

Agree on the car crushing initiative too - good to see them doing something worthwhile and pro-active. Certainly gave the lowlifes a shock when all they thought they were getting was a fixed penalty!

Steve

Doing their bit for traffic congestion. Excellent. Gets some low lifes off the road as the same time, who we end up paying for through higher premiums. :)

1100 cars siezed already. Keep up the good work guys!

Shame in Hampshire you can drive round at will with only one headlight, they cant seem to spot that one.

A few weeks ago we drove from the outskirts of Winchester to Portsmouth at about 7 PM, probably no more than 20 miles. My son counted 23, YES 23 cars with one headlight not working.

They seem to have high profile campaigns for publicity, trust electronic methods of policing & ignore most other things. It scares me to think how many cars on our counties roads have less obvious defects, Bald Tyres, defective suspension & brakes etc. Its a reasuring thought when I get nicked for something serious like 44 in a 40

Still I suppose avoiding tax hits the Government in the pocket so must be stopped & speed cameras raise more money easily.

It's almost like you read my mind Stuart. I used to count up the numbers of cars with defective lights to pass the time while I was stuck in traffic

I aggree that the campaign they were illustrating last night was a worthwhile one but it shouldn't be like doing something out of the ordinary it should be a matter of course.

Did make me chuckle that they were hunting in Leigh Park and Buckland :P

There are several of those Octy's running around here, they've had them for a while - one is an 03 plate. Quite hard to spot, they have small strobe lights on the outside edges of the bumpers and a mobile phone type aerial.

I've said it time and time before, I do not agree with unmarked traffic cars, the police should be providing a visual deterrent and not just skulking around picking people up.

That would remove half the cars from Bradford city centre!! :D

If they have scrapped 1100 cars in a small area like that just imagine how many untaxed and uninsured cars there are in the country.....now if they all paid insurance !!!!!!! would our premiums go down? and by how much

The answer to how much the premiums would go down is simple.........................Nothing

The insurance companies would just increase their profits.

Just look at "Chip and Pin", this was supposed to cut out fraudulant use of credit cards and as such cut out the loading that shops put on prices to combat that loss..

Anyone seen a shop advertising lower prices due to the success of "Chip & Pin"????

And there was I thinking it was just me being sceptical :D

We recorded it on the pc but the sound failed again

As for the Octy, we have one over here and when I was talking to the driver he was most surprised that he and his colleagues were very happy with it

I'm not sure if they swap about a bit because I remember seeing a silver one last year with all it's lights going, having pulled someone over with a marked car. When I mentioned the car he said we didn't have one, and I must admit I havn't seen it since.
