Hello, wondering if anyone else has had this problem? We've yet to receive our new Octavia (1.5 SE tech estate) because it needed a new steering wheel. Apparently there's a poor link to some of the wheel buttons (all? one?) meaning they might not work. The dealer said the problem was discovered during the pre-delivery checks, but I suspect it's a wider problem than just my car, hence my question.

It sounds like they're trying to cover up for a problem that a friend of mine has, also a member of this forum. 

The steering wheel will start to make squeaky sounds, my friend's car started doing it at about 1000km. and they ordered a new steering column for him, I guess packed with the steering wheel itself. 
I know it sounds too conspiracy theorist, but it is weird I've seen this report in the forum here and have a friend with it, then suddenly buttons may not work..
Anyway, it is good they're being proactive.
