Another JabbaSport ReMap

Featured Replies

Spend yesterday visiting Jabba Sport, and am well impressed!. Sorry I don't have a pic of my dynoplot to upload yet as I don't have a scanner at home, but will soon get a mate to scan it for me. My car was an ex-demonstrator and Mike at JabbaSport discovered that the clutch was "glazed" suggesting that someone was using the car previously for harsh standing starts, as the mileage is too low to suggest excessive clutch wear. I know it wasn't me, so can only assume it was the salesman who used the car as his own for a few months before I snapped it up. He was a young guy who was a little rude to me when buying the car, which annoyed me, and this glazed clutch has annoyed me even more!!

That aside, Mike decided to flush the clutch which sorted things out very nicely as an aggressive remap was causing some slip. He explained that this would re-expose the clutch fibers allowing a nice bite, which it did, and that he has had a few in with similiar issues. So he decided to limit the torque to 279.4 lbs/ft and accompanying horsepower at 177.8. Maximum HP and torque occurs a little higher up the rev range between 3500-4000. The car is so much more responsive when reving hard; I am really impressed! Interestingly, the reference figures for the unmapped car where 141 hp and 250.9lbs/ft.

The car is soooo much more responsive, smooth, and nice to drive. There is no evidence of any clutch slip, and Mike said that the clutch should last the life of the car no problem, but if I wanted an uprated clutch installed they were more than happy to sort me out.....at a price around

Yep Jabba are superb, just done me a 80K service and rear arb. The car flys at the moment. I find it better for Jabba to do my major services even thought its a 2 hour trip there.

Do they do the yearly services? I thought they just did they 10k ones?

I belive they will now do any serivce, they did my 60k cam belt change and a lot less than the dealer quoted me.... Perosnally i get 10k oil change done by a loacl spanner monkey and the it goes to jabba every 20k. I do about 30k in a year.

They did my 10k a couple of weeks ago. Only saw 10k/20k/40k services advertised on the website - not the yearly services.

Jabba will do whatever service you require....as per Skoda intervals or yearly.

Last service was done by them and the 60k service and cam belt change will also be done by them....and if you ask them to use Skoda parts iand keep to the official schedule it will be considered as Skoda service history.

Excellent. Not a problem them doing all the work - they've got the first stamp in my book; no worries them with getting all the stamps - just didn't realise they did they yearly ones.

Sorry for taking over your thread, Pete. If you hadn't had the clutch problems, would you have gone for a bit more power?

Certainly would have. But decided to take things a little easy. Mike was happy to sort it out in the future should I opt for a new clutch.
