Radio code/new battery

Featured Replies

Hi

I just need some clarification on this matter please. Do I need my radio security code to change the battery in my 2012 Octavia ? An old thread on here said you don’t, it’s just to prevent your radio being stolen and fitted in another car. Apparently the car ‘remembers’ the code and when you fit your new battery your radio re codes itself. Is this correct ?

Hi Wayne

I changed my battery, no issue, the Octavia remembered the code so I didn’t need it. How long it remembers without a battery connected I don’t know, so my only advice is don’t have a tea break while the battery is disconnected.

Thanks T12.👍

It'll remember indefinitely. Stored in a type of memory that doesn't get erased by power removal.
