New brake disc damage

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently bought two genuine Skoda front brake discs on ebay for £40 which were listed as never used but some surface rust. Once they arrived I noticed both discs have these cuts on them, they are 8cm long and a couple mm deep. Does anyone think I should return them of will they be fine?

Cut for balance purposes, I imagine. So no problem.

Factory balancing, if you break away the rust flaking from your old discs you will see the same.

Yeah, I'd agree. That is a machined finish and not damage.

£40 for genuine sounds like a good deal! :)

Yep, definitely balance machining.

Thanks for all the help and reassurance! £40 for genuine brake discs and £12 for genuine brake pads from ebay which I'm really happy with.

Have you checked that they are the correct diameter? There are two options on the 1.2 HTPs, 239mm and 256mm.

Yeah I learnt that one the hard way and had to return a bunch of stuff to Euro Car Parts, now I have my VIN number saved on Skoda-parts.com and use that for part numbers and compatibility.
