DSG Thermostat Replacement

Featured Replies

Just another question on this whilst I am waiting for the thermostat to arrive.

Does having a faulty DSG Thermostat have a direct affect on the heating inside the car as this seems to not get as hot as I think it should be.

If the coolant is running cool, then yes there won't be as much heat available when it passes through the heater matrix to heat the cabin.

That makes perfect sense! Thank you. I'll be sorting this out out next week so will post on how it goes!

The instructions that came with mine say make sure your fluid is clean or the replacement can fail quickly. Not sure how to test this but after 3 times in 5 years it may be worth a flush and refill?

This is the best video I have found on how to do the job, it's in German but Youtube subtitles can Auto translate.

Great vid and can get the gist however YouTube translates this from German............ Wait for it........ To German 😂😂

I have done this job today. It wasn't the most straight forward due to the bolt that holds the air box in place being badly corroded. Then the coolant hoses being put on by Thor himself.

Anyway all fine now and car went straight up to temp and is now lovely and warm inside.

I have also notice more power and smoother gear changes. Seriously it feels like it had made a big difference.

Yes it does. Engine temp is often as it should be, but cabin temp is low/cold. More than often this is due to dsg thermostat failure. Easy fix, done in 20min.

Thanks mate, I have changed this already now. Sorted it a treat.
