What does it cost to recharge an EV?

Featured Replies

As a non-EV pilot I was curious about how much it would cost to recharge an EV via a public charge point.  A bit of Googling[tm] led to an article by What Car which included the following table.

Note for Mods: I've posted this here instead of under the EV heading as I think it's of more general interest.

The what car article (sponsored by Nissan btw) is dated 22Feb 2019, so is somewhat out of date. Quite a few prices have increased in 2 years.

Shell recharge for instance has gone up from 25p to 39p per kwh.

ChargePlace Scotland Free Chargers are 'Free' to charge at.  You buy a £20 card for a year to tap in and out.

Some councils are now charging to use ChargePlace Scotland Chargers when they are located on Council Property.

I have done over 5,000 miles using ChargePlace Scotland chargers and paid only the £20.

There will be places i use that will now cost me to charge @ in 2021 but not yet in my council area.

Back in this time ie 2019, Source London was owned by my employer, a French conglomerate but we sold it to Total later last year I gather.

Sad to be out of EV manufacture and charger distribution but it was interesting to hear of all the hassle with blocked charging bays etc.  One has to persuade EV owners to move from the charge bays after they have been charged and not park there half or all day.
