Alloygator

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just having my wheels reconditioned including lacquer.  What is the overall opinion of people of their alloygator rim protectors?

No takers?

I'm also about to have my 19" alloys refurbed (for the 2nd time). This time I'm getting them powdered coated gloss black to match the car colour & was wondering about Alloygator rim protectors to help them last a bit longer. I've seen the video's but it would be nice to to get a review from any forum members that have used them. I'm especially interested to hear about any issues when replacing tyres on rims with Alloygators fitted.

Here's a relevant thread.

They work but are brutally expensive, very profitable too I would imagine.

I generally reverse park, much easier to avoid kerbing when you can see the kerb in the mirror, also practice is good for you.

Many thanks. Wonder why I couldn't find that thread when I searched. Hey ho. Good info. Think I will go down the Alloygator route when I get my wheels powder coated.

You're welcome!  Funnily enough I've come across this problem before and have proposed a solution.

I sometimes have quite a game finding threads relevant to what I'm looking for, and even when I do find them, I'm sometimes stuck in the position of not being able to find them again. :D

Being able to have an index of favourite threads on my home profile page would be useful, and allow me to share useful threads more easily.

It is basically a solution to limit damage for those that expect to crash, or more specifically collide with kerbs.  There are number of disadvantages, cost, ugly looks etc.

It is debatable if it is a prettier solution than choosing smaller diameter rims and not scratching them.

I had kerb damage on my last car and I also thought when I ordered a new skoda to go down that line.i think most of us have come in contact with kerbs in the past and dreading getting out of the car to have a look at the damage .as the looks  go protectors don't loojk to bad unless you choose the bright colours (my opinion)

Agreed. I was looking at getting my existing alloys powder coated gloss black & to fit a black wheel protector making it blend in. I have already bought some new boots for the fronts so they can be fitted when I get the wheels done in a few weeks. First though a trip up to the Lakes to get the last few hundred miles out of the old tyres.
