HELP needed Skoda fabia vrs 1.4 been sat 15 months

@Jamievrs2011A van certainly should be able to start a car with a 1,390 cc petrol engine, so were they professional jump leads of a good quality?

Many jump leads are not good enough to start a car.

I have had Twinchargers not start if they did not do a nice strong crank and start right way.

EDIT.

I was posting as you posted about the jump leads used.

?

So you have done the fuel pump since the car was last starting and now it is not starting, is that right?

& the plugs changed since it was started as well?

?

Why the fuel pump change,  and what spark plugs have you fitted, and are the coils on OK and the pipes back on with no issue with the O rings?

Yeah the car was starting then I changed the pump snd plugs then it started straight after changing them

Then the next day I went to the car to then drive it back home and it wouldn’t start so I know it’s nothing that I have done as it was started for over a hour after I carried out the work to the car

I know its unlikely but are you SURE you added petrol and not diesel? I would expect what you have claimed as a fault, then! Check your fuel receipt, if you have it.

thomasaspin, good point although my point was more generic, suggesting not to rely too greatly on an added source. It always seems better to have a directly connected, fully charged unit, rather then a jump-start. Plus, although I am most likely wide of the mark, the OP could have been referring to a small, car derived van and not a large lugger.

All pipes on compression test is good all coils and plugs are sparking well I maybe wrong here but are the crank sensors on these still magnetic and can not work correctly if they have a bit of metal on these ? Just a thought with it been sat so long

It’s either not  fueling due to what you fitted or immobiliser related

Is the fuel pump air locked ? As when you changed it , it may of pumped what was in the pipes out and is air locked now

No sir lock in the pipes and I think immobiliser is fine as of the car is sparking I didn’t think it would spark it’s at the local garage will let yous know when I get a update

Be nice to find out what the issue ended up being! We are all gonna start a gambling ring on the outcome...lol

UPDATE FROM GARAGE

been told the timing chain has stretched car is running now misfiring and running terrible

Have they measured it and know it is stretched / elongated?

More likely the issue is the chain tensioner from the sitting so long and then starting.   But then they will be replacing both.

With the CTHE engines there is a TPI covering the chain and tensioner.  There was none for the CAVE cars.

I just rang this morning and he told me it had stretched and slipped so o just told him to change it so I’m just hoping that’s the problem hahah

Possibility of valve damage. :crying:

That’s what I was thinking but no mention of the valves of the garage so I guess I could just get lucky it’s because of the timing chain tensioner

Nah no need to worry on Tsi's, Would be a very rare case if a timing chain snapped however stretching is as common as muck. I would be me more worried that nobody noticed the audible difference from the noise of the engine if the chain was stretched as particularly on these they tend to make a hell of a racket, the car runs like crap and in theory it should start to throw up P0016 codes

Replace the tensioner at the same time as these engines still use an old tensioner that has been revised 3 times by VW since ours, Its prone to chucking it and having done the timing chain on these I can vouch for an £80 timing kits from TPS, Ive done the lot for just over £100 and it 3 took hours in total.

£80 for timing kit

£22 for timing tools

And obviously make sure they check over the other components for damage ie sprockets
