Infotainment system not switching on. Octavia 3.

Featured Replies

My infotainment system is not switching on. I think its the Amundsen. It worked fine until my battery died and I jump started the car. Everything else fine (parking sensors, minidot display etc). I’m wondering if the battery is too low in charge and this is a failsafe? I get this message in the minidot: “Telephone is currently not available”. Any advice gratefully received. Maybe a new battery is the answer.

Have tried the reset option as reccomended to others. Nothing happens.

Checked the fuse(s) that supply the infotainment?

Not yet - found getting the glove compartment back in such a hassle last time! Assume it would be the one listed as touchscreen not radio etc.  I’m thinking new battery (also). the car is 2013 model and never had a replacement one before and it never gets to hold enough charge for the stop start tech to work (maybe a bit after a motorway drive) - but then looked up how to replace and needs some tech know how. Last car I had was just a simple switch. Will check fuse though. Ta.

Checked the fuse. It’s ok. Infotainment system remains unresponsive. I’m wondering if the battery is too degraded and there is some failsafe in the car to stop it starting? Is that nonsense?

Odd.

Next step is probably connecting diagnostic equipment to see if the headunit will communicate and check for error codes.

Otherwise, maybe check for power on the quadlock to the main unit above the glovebox.

Thanks for response  but sounds way beyond my skill set! Just seems odd that this problem only happened after battery went flat and needed a jump start. Infotainment system functioning not essential for an MOT is it?

Shouldn't be :)

So get this - went back to the car - took out the SD card with the map on - and hey presto the system starts up? Pure chance? Maybe not for me to reason why.
