Fuel tank capacity?

You have got that 'posterior about face' . VRS 2.0tsi/2.0tdi uses more fuel than the 1.5tsi so gets the bigger tank, AWD models use even more fuel so need the even bigger tank.

That is for full ICE  and won't be any different in Ireland.

Well, all I know is that it takes an extra 5 litres or so to fill the 1.5TSI compared to the VRS TSI, both filling from red light just on to fill at the same petrol station.

And doing on different days doesn't change the outcome or change the statements on the fuel card.

My VRS has a smaller tank than my 1.5 TSI

? But does the red light come on with the same quantity of petrol in the tank?

According to the blurb above taken from the manual, about 6L reserve so I imagine yes.

If it comes on at a percentage of tank capacity, it's such a small difference it makes no difference. Say for example it comes on at 10% capacity, it's 4.5L for small tank, 5L for big tank, 500ml difference.

This reminds me of the Fiat Ducato X290 fuel tank. The Ducato came with a 60L, 90L or 120L tank. The unladen weight of a van is calculated with the tank filled to a set percentage (80% I think). The 60L and 90L were physically the same tank, the 90L has a restriction in it to make it a 60L capacity. Result, a 20kg reduction in unladen weight and the option of selling a "big tank" upgrade by simply removing the restriction......

@Hairy_Joe any I drive might have a reserve light come on and show the range and that range depends on how being driven and the average mpg in the recent miles before the light comes on.  So out of interest what sort of mpg do you get from the vRS or 1.5 TSI when you head to fill up and what range does the different cars show when the light comes in?

Can’t compare to a vRS, but in my 1.5tsi the red light will come on with a range between 55 and 85 miles. It’s usually in the range 65 - 75 miles though. As @toot say, depends on recent average mpg.
