H&R cup kit review + whiteline bits

Featured Replies

Managed to get myself  H&R cup kit 50/50 drop last year for the bargain price of £414 off autodoc, after experiencing catastrophic crank walk and needing an engine replacement, it had to go on the back burner....

Fast forward to this week and it's finally on and thought I'd give my opinion on it. Before I go too deep into it, I also upgraded the top mounts to audi ttrs and had whiteline anti lift kit and whiteline rear Anti-Roll bar and heavy duty drop links fitted.

So, right off the bat they are much stiffer than the 13 year old suspension, but I knew what I was letting myself in for.

It is a firm/sporty ride, so don't expect anything else, they have however greatly improved how the car handles and give very little bod roll.

On new smooth roads it is an absolute dream, its only on poor quality roads that you really notice how much harder they are than std

The whole package has completely transformed the car, and I mean completely. On my commute down twisting country roads it sticks to the roads like glue, hitting corners at 10mph faster than when the stock vrs would start to understeer and its completely unphased and could probably be pushed more......

All in all its amazing, but be warned it is stiff for a family car.

Got our -50 cup kit and whiteline rarb on a few years back. Had a bump a couple of years ago and bent a front strut so a full new kit was installed via insurance. The new kit seems to be slightly stiffer than the one fitted a few years back. It made a massive difference with both kits compared to the original VRS suspension. A wee bit stiff on really rough roads but overall we have been really happy with it. Its a pleasure to drive without that armchair feeling. Height wise too looks and feels much better. Never had any issues with speed bumps etc but obviously just take it easier over them.

I have opted for a Bilstein B12 / Eibach Sportline kit and Whiteline front and rear ARB's for my Audi A3 but not fitted them yet. Will see how that goes as the "Sport" suspension on the Audi is very wallowy/bouncy. I am hoping they make as much improvement to the Audi as the Cup kit and RARB made to the VRS.

I previous had the B12 kit (B8 yellow dampers with Eibach sportline springs), found them firm great handling but on rough surfaces they were unforgiving!  The dampers were started to leak and I replaced them with the B8 Comfort (green in colour) which i imported from Germany.  Much better on bumpy/rough roads.  Ive paired it with Eibach ARB's and Whiteline rear drop links.

Doesnt help that the car is full polybushed aswell! :) However its great for handling.
