Led headlights

Featured Replies

Anyone installed led bulbs in main beam fogs or drl's.

Seen a few on ebay made by nighteye/novsight.

Any reviews

Yeah, tonnes of us have.. just have a quick search on here and you'll find the relevant ones (such as 'Cree' branded ones) that don't trigger Canbus errors etc. :)

I used something like this for my DRL’s. No errors

lighter and brighter than standard. Would like more light though.

Yes i did see them. How long you had them in. Previously i had bad experiences with led w5w sidelights bulbs as in none would last more than a week without flickering so i gave up on them.

I am really wanting to add h3 leds for the main beam and h8 leds for the fogs made by nighteye/novsight but wanted a long term review on them

May/June 2019 reckon I easily done over 10k Miles with them not always on though.

I found my link to seller on eBay pasted below. Had to replace 1 faulty bulb and they did without question as it failed soon after fitting.

You won't get a road legal beam pattern from an LED bulb in a reflector designed for a halogen bulb, and it may result in an MOT failure.

Not sure they test main beam or fog beam pattern in the MOT so probably won't worry the OP??

I do get the mot bit but being in the main beam or fogs i just want max brightness.

Fogs to be honest i never use manually i just want super bright light for cornering.

Main beams i just want max brightness

You'll probably find a decent pair of halogen bulbs give you more distance lighting (where you need it) than LED's in the main beams.

The reason is that an LED in a reflector is unfocused so tends to give lots of foreground lighting but very little distance lighting.

Less of an issue for LEDs in fog lights so as long as they don't cause glare, I'd suggest buying a quality branded item rather than cheap Chinese things though :)
