Delivery times?

Featured Replies

I just had update from the dealer: build week 26 (end of June), ordered 16th Feb for a meteor grey vRS TSI estate, just with DCC. Quoted delay is due to the rona. I really like my current vRS and still have enough left of PCP without extending it probably, but will need to be patient for another month or two now!

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Ooof! That looks like an August delivery most likely. I can’t get my head around the different timelines being quoted for orders placed mid Jan to mid Feb. Also some orders placed later are are being allocated build weeks, eg I placed an order two weeks before you and my dealership are saying there has been no build week allocated yet. 🤷🏻‍♂️
To be honest if I get a build week similar to yours I’ll most likely be changing my plans. My current lease goes back end of April and I’ll be into excess mileage charges by then anyway, so not keen on that.
Thanks for the update and hope this is a case of under promising and over delivering. 👍🏼

It’s worth noting that anything that’s more than 4 weeks in the future is likely to be an unconfirmed build date and subject to change. But yes, the inconsistencies are pretty alarming (an order placed 4 days before mine is built and awaiting shipment, and mine has an unconfirmed build date still that’s still 16 weeks away, and later than that given to @Aarond who placed their order 8 weeks after I did)...

I’ve also not been given any of this information from my dealer - I’ve had to contact Skoda via chat on the website otherwise I’d be blissfully unaware that my original delivery date at the end of this month isn’t going to be met. Skoda have said they’re contacting the dealer as they may be able to do something via their sales channel but I’m not holding my breath.

I think they try planning according to when you need the vehicle... for example - they tried to get mine for March delivery, as my lease was supposed to end on the 10th of March. So initially, it was unconfirmed build week 7. Then it went to unconfirmed week 15, then 10, which got confirmed in the end. Will find out next week whether it was built or not... My point is that, while there are some delays, they're still trying to accommodate the building and delivery to your needs. So if you need the car further down the year, maybe they're planning the build week according to that. Yet, I had to extend my lease once, most probably will extend it with another month next week, so yeah  - a bit of a mess...

Not sure. I enquired in Jan specifically to replace my lease car at the end of April. I was quoted 22 weeks, so went for a stock car instead. Luckily I found a car pretty close to the spec I wanted (it's slightly over speced tbh); but I would be annoyed if I'd bought a compromise car only to find I could have ordered the ideal one in time.

I think the potential delays are also to do with a worldwide shortage of automotive computer chips, linked of course to C19.

Bloody C19...

As good as that would be, I doubt that Skoda are planning there production runs around the needs of the individual customers?
But I’d love it if I’m wrong because it means hopefully my car could be ready some time this year! 🤣🤣

Hi mate, how did you manage to get the detail from Skoda? What detail did you need to give them, order number? Dealer details? Spec of car?

Just the order number (although I didn’t have it at the start and they have it to me...think I just had to give my name and the spec ordered)

OK thanks pal. Maybe I’ll give that a go. 👍🏼

Well, I don't say they're planing their production around the individual customers, but I guess when an order is placed, the dealer has an idea when you need the car. At least they asked me about this. I guess, when they move the order up the chain, they put the desired delivery date/month, so my guess is the factory has this info. Whether they work around it, or totally ignore it - have no clue... :) Hopefully, I will get mine this half of the year, lol...

🙌🏼🙌🏼 Here’s hoping. 🤞🏼😬

Just an update that the manager at my local dealership has got back to me (after Skoda emailed him) but he's not been able to get an answer why the dates keep moving around so much (could be quota, could be availability of the reverse camera part, could be a computer 'fanny' - my terminology since I work in IT and know these things do happen). Hope to have a definitive answer in the next day or so (they have a car in dealer stock that I may be able to have if there is no joy, but it doesn't have the camera, and is black which wasn't my preferred colour so I'd rather get the spec I ordered really...)

I hear your frustration @DuncanW, I don't think we're likely to have a good understanding as to why dates are so moveable. Whatever decision you choose will be the right one!

Thanks for that. It’s funny that “Skoda” couldn’t talk to “Skoda” directly and delegated it to your dealer. 🤣

Obviously you want your chosen spec, BUT they do look good in black. 🤔🤔

Black is ok (I’m currently on Black Seat # 4) but think it looks weird with the black badges on the back - may as well not have them since they’re invisible. I would prefer the camera though - got used to a dipping reverse mirror on my Leon, and I think my wife would be more comfortable having one for when she drives... We’ll see what dealer support come up with though.

At least you’ve a better idea about where you are with things.
I’m still playing the waiting game. 😢

I quite like the stealth look of the black and the black badges. Has to be an estate for me though.
hopefully the dealer has some good news. 🤞🏼

Great news. That’s actually a decent time from order to build to potential delivery. 👍🏼

Oh, well... just got an update on my order: "Current Status –  In transit from the factory to the port of exit where it will await a ship to the UK." Has anyone got an idea how long the wait is from this moment on? :worried:

I ordered car (Style version with many additional equipment, dizel) at Febuary 13 and yesterday car dealer notify me that I can expect to receive car before May 20.. so together it will take about 3 months from the order date.

But I am from Slovenia - so there is almost no transport (10 hours)..

Lucky you! I need a ship, lol...

Mine took a week to ship to the UK from when I was told it was at the port ready to be shipped, I'm awaiting confirmation of when it will be transported to the dealers now.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. It’s odd that Skoda couldn’t talk to Skoda and find out. 🤣🤣

Would be good to get your Spec , but have to say, I actually quite like the black, it’s a real stealth wagon, especially

They're still talking apparently - Skoda UK sales are talking to Skoda Europe who are talking to the factory - hoping to have some news tomorrow (still gutting to see people placing orders this month getting ETAs months in advance of mine but there you go...)

Spec was fairly standard - TSi hatch, DSG with the Reversing Camera and Rear Wiper as the only options (in Metallic Grey)
