exhaust blowing issue

Featured Replies

hi guys,

had a mechanic to see if they could make my exhaust more quieter, they told me it is blowing at the front of the engine and the muffler would need to be changed too.

he quoted me at 310 all in to replace the whole pipe from front to muffler and to just replace the part that is blowing will cost 165 all in.

is that price right? just seems bit high.

many thanks guys

the mechanic told me the whole exhaust pipe is 240 pound, i have seen loads on ebay for much less, am i getting lied to?

i have just read another thread that a guy got the part that was blowing fixed for 150 so i guess my price isnt too bad.

I would have said the price was ok-not great but ok, as long as it had a minimum of a years warranty. Two would be better still. Many companies like Kwik-Fit, etc used to use Walkers parts and they seem to live for the warranty and may be just a little longer. Get a genuine Skoda parts quote too, so you know where you stand. They WILL have two years and will almost certainly outlive that!

thank you, i will ring skoda tomorrow.

this might sound stupid but does having a holein the flexi pipe effect the fuel? such as using more?

Do you weld?

i did bit of research after i posted this and realised i needed to know how to weld first, sorry, my bad.

There does appear to be replacements similar to the listed one, for similar money that can either weld OR clamp. It may be worth noting! Find the correct diameter and have enough space for the brakes, then bolt one on!

just an update, exhaust have now been fixed, the pipe just before the flexi part was near enoguh hanging off the pipe i should have a took a picture but forgot.

as for the noise, i am very happy with it! apart from the low growling noise, still has the modified exhaust pipe on.

asked him for a quote to make it back to normal but after driving abit after the work, i am liking the  power it seemed to have gained and the noise is very bearable.

all in all, im happy :)
