Wheel X

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd reccomend this product. I've been having issues with burnt on brake dust / flakes of brake pad on my rims that have built up over the winter. All the usual wheel cleaners didn't seem to shift it.

I didn't want to resort to wheel acid after hearing some horror stories about wheels with cracked / chipped laquer, so I found out what the next best thing was.

Hi Rob

That sounds like good stuff. Who is it made by, and where did you find it?

Thanks

I got the stuff in Thompsons (I'm not sure if that's a national chain?).

I've just Googled and on an Audi TT forum someone reckons the stuff is produced and marketed only in Macclesfield (where I live).

If you're after some, I could arrange to post it for you, or put you in contact with the shop (they might mail order it for you too)?

I think it's more the toothbrushes and elbow grease that's done the job, rather than the product tbh.

I find that any supermarket spray type stuff works eventually, it's just a case of applying enough alloy polish etc when wheels are clean, and sprucing up when washing car to prevent excessive build up..:D

If I am wrong feel free to kick me!

Meguires Alloy Cleaner - Best Ive used

Wonder wheels works well enough for me.

I bought a 5 litre bottle of Wonder Wheels from Costco today, just under £9.00.

My car is the first I've had with alloys and even with my limited alloy cleaning experience, can't recommend the use of a toothbrush enough!

Is that the retail one, Hot Rims is it called? Or is it the trade one, which I think is called Wheel Brightener? I've read how good Wheel Brightener is, but it only appears to be available in the larger sizes.

I agree with you ....

all those ones are well expensive though - i use turtle wax wheel clean (3 for 2 in halfrauds) and it works wonders. Dont breathe it in though...!

I have Meguires Hot Rims from cleanandshiny which was £6.99. However, I have only managed to clean my alloys 3 times and I need a new bottle.

It seems to have done a good job, but as I have not tried anything else I cant do a comparison.

Also used the Meguires Wheel spoke brush.

After getting your wheels sparkly clean, use Autoglym srp.

my wheels only need a quick wipe with a damp mf and perhaps once a month a do with srp, whatever the state they appear to be in.

Calm down Graham, that's a swear word ! ;)

Wonder Wheels for me:thumbup:

I use " Muck off " Diluted 50/50..................Workes wonders..Purchased from Halfrauds..I think

I just use a bit of muck off, its bike cleaner but works wonders on wheels.

I used Wheel X right before I sold my alloys and it did a really good job. Although unless the alloys are really mucked up, I reckon just regular TLC is the key. :)
