Is it worth upgrading from a 2018 VRS petrol DSG estate, to the new one ?

Featured Replies

Morning.  Apologies as I;m sure that this has been done to death, but I can't find it despite searching .  I've currently got a 2018 petrol DSG estate VRS 230 ( and had the previous model before that ). I always go through the rigamarole of car research, but hard to get anything else that ticks so many boxes ( including massive boot for the family ). I really like the idea of a Volvo V90,  but they're massive...but with a smaller boot,  and not the best for the school run.  Anyway, the current car is on a lease, coming to an end shortly.  One of the things the family would like is a panoramic sunroof, and it happens that I've found a very good lease deal on a stock car, Meteor Grey, with sunroof. Again ticks all the boxes, although other option is to buy my current car.   I've done all the sums both ways. My question is how do they compare.  With the bigger ( in my opinion a bit lairy ) wheels, is the ride OK ?  Seems to be nicer inside?  Touchscreen good or a pain?   Limited slip diff make driving it a bit better?   I was considering a Superb 272 but very hard to get, and on a PCP woudl end up being £450 a month, v this lease deal at £350. Any thoughts appreciated . thanks

i've just come upon the thread " annoying things about the mk 4" , heavily focussed on the annoying infotainment system and lack of buttons . Almost putting me off the whole thing! one reason for changing is to get a newer and safer car, as the mk 3 underneath is a 2014 NCAP test chassis I think

Go for it. I really like mine. Yes there are going to be software bugs on new cars but they are being ironed out and as in the other thread less are appearing on newer cars.

I've had no software bugs on my vrs and touchscreen is much better than last generation in my opinion.  The ride is very harsh with lots of road noise.

Hi Bill , go for it. Its a different car and rides much better on the 19's compared to the 18's. Its more premium inside compared to the last version. The last version i always thought was a bit low rent compared to my Superb.

Quite noisy on the 19 inch wheels and ride harsh ?

For me, yes very - you notice every imperfection in the road and above 40-50mph the road noise is significant. vrs on 19's.

With DCC and in comfort mode ride is very pleasant.

Road noise depends a lot on tires you have. I have 18 inch winter tires and in my opinion road noise is quite low.

Yes I have heard the DCC is very good for this, wish I had gone for it tbh.
