Car is making rattling (ticking) sound when accelerating in low gears

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. Recently bought a 2017 Octavia and all was going well until I recently noticed that the car is making a funny sound when idling and accelerating at low gears. Can someone please help me identify the problem. Thanks in advance.

ARH - the churping cam-belt.  Okay - there is a TPI associated with this fault.  It seems to be that on certain cars, the cam-belt catches the belt-tensioner.  Slightly poor tolerances on the belt.  Skoda should honour a warranty repair here.  I am also assuming that your car is a 2.0TDI - either 150 or 190bhp.  Had this fixed on my 2019 Scout.  They put a wax stick on the side of the belt for me; it seems to be still going well 10000 miles later.
