What does WLAN do?

Featured Replies

Sat waiting for my wife to have her vaccine I found WLAN. I can connect to the Columbus via Bluetooth or Apple Play. Is there any difference, I.r. can I stream Youtube via a browser from my iPhone onto the Columbus screen, as it seemed like there was a browser on the ingotsin ent screen. Or is it simply another way to link a phone to play music in the car.

WLAN uses either a sim card or tethered to your phone as a mobile WiFi hot spot.  I can use my phone as a mobile hot spot for my superb to connect to, and then people in the car can connect to the car for the WiFi (but it's just as easy to connect to my phone if that's what I'm using).  As far as I'm aware, it doesn't offer any other advantage of playing music, or playing media onto the car, just as a means of offering internet to occupants of the car.

Been searching this site and others for ages. I have 2020 Superb with SIM Slot. I inserted ‘data only SIM card’ and managed to connect my phone (iPhone 14)  to “Skoda_WLAN_1219” and was able to access the internet, this showed up in my WiFi settings and others in the car could connect their phones to this ‘WiFi’.
I did not need to have Bluetooth or a cable attached.
But recently it has stopped working. The SIM has plenty of data available and 4G/5G give good signals here. However after initially connecting my phone it now says ‘no internet connection’ in red under the skoda_WLAN_1219. Have I changed a setting accidentally? Can I reset anything to make it work? Does anyone have an idea why this might have happened. ? It’s driving me nuts !!!!!
